Painting with Pencil......WIP
Okay, I've been drawing since the age of two and just discovered blending pencils with dry paint brushes! Here is my latest work-in-progress using dry brushes of various size to softly blend and push graphite where I want it. I may not be the first and hopefully won't be the last to use brushes for pencil drawings but it's always exciting finding different avenues to achieve a desired result.

Thanks Judi!

I'm working on Strathmore medium tooth Drawing Paper. The entire piece has been drawn with a 0.5mm HB mechanical pencil.

Wow Paul, this is gorgoeus! Can you go all the way with the tip on the brush and tell us what kind of brush, bristle or......? I will be glued to my chair with this one.

Thank you for the kind words, Molesworth and Mary!

Mary-
I am using small detail brushes with the pointed tip. I find that the stiffer the bristles the better for tiny places like around eyes and softening/shading hair strands. I also use a 1/4" wide flat/straight brush for larger areas like the skin.
I hope that helps, I'm terrible with "paint brush" terminology! LOL!

Here's another progress report...


Still plugging away... There are many layers to go before it is a tight complete image, please forgive the odd looking areas. I keep jumping back and forth between parts. I started blocking the hair strands out and detailing them a bit.
