Re: What Art Magazines do you subscribe to?
I pick up Juxtapoz every month, but I don't actually subscribe to anything.
Beyond that, I just pick up whatever catches my eye from time to time. I find with magazines that it helps to mix it up a bit; I like reading new magazines and looking at the design as much as anything else.

I only subscribe to Artists Newsletter and The Art Newspaper, but regularly pick up Tate etc, Frieze, Modern Painters, and Contemporary. I'd really like to be able to find American Artist but it's a rare find over here. (Or New American Paintings looks interesting.)

Re: What Art Magazines do you subscribe to?
I used to get a lot of them but found I wasn't reading any of them because of the numbers. Now I only get American Artist, The Artist's Magazine, Watercolor (put out by American Artist), and Southwest Art (my all-time favorite)...

Re: What Art Magazines do you subscribe to?
When I'm at used bookstores I pick up 1970's editions of American Art Review magazine. I love everything about those old issues, right down to the heavy paper stock, which tells me the publisher cares about the longevity (read: timelessness) of the publication. As opposed to the added cost of such paper.
I subscribe to The Artist's Magazine. This is a gift subscription that I am on the fence regarding renewing.
I also pick up Art in America whenever I can.
And my favorite / most inspirational magazine of all time is Hobbies Magazine, from around 1934 thru the WWII years.

I only subscribe to Artists Magazine. Although I do on occasion pick up a copy of American Artist if I see something on the cover that catches my eye. I just don't have the time to read much else.

Re: What Art Magazines do you subscribe to?
None. I look over the usuals at the library-- American Artist, The Artist's Magazine. Art in America and so on, but rarely find much of real interest.
The mags that used to be of specific interest to me-- Wildlife Art, Wildfowl Carving and so on, have been dumbed down so much they're all but useless now.
Same thing many other formerly good specialized magazines... for example, Lapidary Journal should now be called "Ugly Modern Jewelry and Bead Journal (with the Occasional Article about Lapidary)."
Back issues of such magazines, dating from the 70s on back, are a whole lot more useful and I have a pretty decent collection.

Re: What Art Magazines do you subscribe to?
I'm lucky I guess to live near several huge book stores where I'm able to browse through a whole slew of art mags: Art News, Art in America, Juxtapose, American Artist, Art Forum, Modern Painters, Art on Paper,etc... I don't subscribe to anything, but regularly (about once every other month) buy one or more. I just don't find any single magazine consistently interesting enough to subscribe to.

Re: What Art Magazines do you subscribe to?
Hi,
I don't have any signature but I usually buy a mag every month. Sometimes two.
My favorite is probably American Artist. I also like The Artist's Magazine and International Artist.
I'm thinking about subscribing American Artist since the price is good and they give access to their site, which I find to be a good one amongst art mags - I msut say that I don't know many art mag sites though.
Ah ! And working with soft pastels, sometimes I pick up the Pastel Journal.
Regards,
José

I subscribe to The Artist's Magazine, but occasionally pick up American Artist if I like the cover. I like Wetcanvas best of all though.

none right now, and I sadly missed an offer of a free subscription to Art in America. Should have jumped on that.

Re: What Art Magazines do you subscribe to?
I'll have to look for this juxtapoz, not heard of it. I thought it worth mentioning that there is a Printmaking Today magazine for any printmakers out there. I like it but don't printmake anymore, but it always has gorgeous work in it. Musket I know what you mean about the library and old stuff! Our library doesn't have periodicals but we have an art bookshop in central London with £1/£2/£3 bargain bins of old magazines and exhibition catalogs. It's fantastic and I've have a stack of old Royal Academy magazines from the 80s and 90s that have the best reviews and interviews.
