Re: Nude Reference Photos

I seen a book years ago (well not to many years ago) that was all photo refrence poses (all nude) for artist, but I can't remember the name of it.
I'm sure if you go to a big book store you should be able to find it or find some others that way or check on amazon or something.

Try googling domai.com. This is an Internet site that specialises in non-pornographic nudes (all female). Generally, the poses are not what you see in a figure drawing class. The models tend to be smiling cheerfully into the camera as though for their class photos. There are, however, a minority of stunning photos and beautiful poses with interesting lighting. Good material for the anatomy and you can improve the poses and backgrounds yourself. There is limited free access. About twenty dollars gets you access to a mind-boggling number of photos that is a little overwhelming to wade through but there is some very good inspirational material there. Some of the best photos you may recognise as the reference material for paintings you have already seen.

Any C&C I may make is based on the theory that even the act of disagreeing with one of my lousy suggestions may still spark an inspired idea.

Hi one excelent site that you might try is www.modelalizer.com this site is french and designed to emulate the art poses with different models and you can vary the camera angle. you can download think one model set for free but alternative models are reasonable 25 euros. I have found their service of imense value.

Try Sophie at http://lockstock.deviantart.com/ She has LOTS of poses with and without clothes, all very tasteful, all very free. And most are a great size.

Re: Nude Reference Photos

The book Deadsam probably saw is one one of these two:

' The Figure in Motion - a visual reference for the artist' by Thomas Easley, photographs by Mark Smith - published by Watson-Guptill Publications, New York; or

' The Nude Figure - avisual reference for the artist' - by Mark Edward Smith ( same publisher)

Both are very useful - there is some cross over material between the two but as the title suggests the first has more action shots.
