quarter horse

Hi everyone. It's been ages since I posted anything, but I have been peeking in every now & then.

Here is a piece I've been working on since last summer. I've been so busy working that I don't get much time to work on it. I haven't touched it in 5 months, so I figured if I at least post it, maybe that will get me motivated to finish it by this summer... lol.

I'm using a micron (01) pen.
Size 13" X 17" but could be cropped just a bit when finished
Ref image by Brenda B in the library
Not sure of the paper, just had some stuff I wanted to use up, but it is acid free.

A couple of close ups

Hi Sheila,
Hey, this is absolutely wonderful! So far you have done some great work on this horse and looks to be a total winner when you finish! Very nice work! You have done a great job on the mane and forelock which are always the hardest parts for me. Excellent!!
Ron

Thanks Ron. The mane is the hard part for me too. At least it's been a challenge so far.

Re: quarter horse

Very good stippling. Shows what a $3.00 Micron pen and some discipline can accomplish...

Hi Sheila,

This is super work. Your stippling is great and like Ron, I love the way you have done the mane and forelock. I am looking so forward to your next update.

Val.

Re: quarter horse

Michael, uh, here I pay 4.50. There is a Canadian site that I will be ordering from soon. A lot cheeper.

Val, Thanks. I'm half way done the mane, so I can't quit now...lol

Monica, there you are cheering me on. A kick start would help too....

Chris, thanks.

Re: quarter horse

Shelia, I just finished a piece that I started over a year ago about 2 months ago, so don't feel bad about taking so long to finish your piece. Sometimes life has other things in store for us. You have done a fantastic job so far, and like the others I love the forelock and the mane. Please post your progress pics for us.

Re: quarter horse

Sheila, what a wonderful rendering and so worth finishing. Besides, you got a lot of people enticed by this beauty and we want to see more.

Cheering you on to your next update... Rob

Re: quarter horse

Sheila, Your quarter horse piece is looking great- stippling requires so much patience!

The only other feedback I would offer is to try a lighter colored paper (I'm not sure how closely the paper color in the above images matches your actual piece); I think it would make your work stand out so much more. This medium and your work deserves to be seen at its best

Shiela, This is going to be great. I love the way you've rendered the hair. I also like the perspective of the picture. I can't wait to see more of this one! - Chris

Re: quarter horse

Oh my gosh, here it is Oct.already. Where has the time gone. I have only recently got back to working on this.

This is the overall view of what I have done so far. I know I will have to darken the horse a bit to bring out the highlights a little more.

Tim, I am using white paper, but the idea of off white paper seems like a good idea for other work I want to do in this medium
