FND - 8/3/02 - Skull

Late as usual
I think this is 2 hours worth of drawing, I did half an hour here and half an hour there during the day... so, don't hold me to it.
It needs a little bit more done to it before I can call it finished, I think.
Thanks for looking... and Thanks for the images, Caron!

Great piece, Sherville. You have a good understanding of form. Colours accentuate the form and the subject too!! Nicely rendered. I like it a lot!

This is soooo real looking. I'm green with envy.

The colors and shading and very good, and all that hatching really adds to the whole piece. If you add more, please post for us to see what you did to it.

This is stunning, Sherville! I love the colors you used and the sense of depth you created with them. I can almost reach inside the eye socket of that skull. Great work!

YEHHHEEEEHHHEEESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!
I really dig your rendering of this skull
your choices of hue for the shading is smashing
you get both warms and cools plus great volume with your technique
not to mention an eerie feel of antiquity as well
I'm lovin this work, killah!

sherville,

it's really amazing to see how so many people handled this skull, and all so differently.

I love your colors, and agree with Surfinia, the hatching really adds great depth to it. I really feel like this has the patina of very old bone, you've done a very fine job!

purrrrrrrrrrrfect!

So many colors in a bone study. Makes it look really solid.

Thanks for the comments!

Impetuous - I used coloured pencil for this... I chose this picture because I could crack out my favourite colours that I use on everything! I'd just finished a frog and so i'm really hating the colour green right about now, so it was nice to use earth tones again. ahhhhh!

Thanks everyone, your comments are appreciated! Actually, I intended to reply to you all when I had finished this one, but I'm not so sure I should touch it anymore... I was thinking I would add the background kinda motley, but then someone suggested only hinting some colour around it, but I'm also thinking I like it as it is with the stonehenge as the background. So, I'm lost. Anyone with ideas... please share!

Oh yeah... Caron, no need to have been nervous, you did a great job hosting, but I know how it is... somehow we get suckered into these things by Bobby (Just kidding!)
