Doggie from RIL wip

I promised I would upload my next piece as a work in progress, so here goes. I have chosen a dog from the RIL whose eyes just took me. I have decided to tackle this one as a sepia. I always work on Canson, this is a half sheet of 'Sand'. I am using Carbothello pencils, my colours are a mid brown, a dark brown, black, pale yellow and white.

I have a black and white printout from the computer on A4 which I use to scale up my drawing and to work from. I work from my loungeroom wall this way I don't have a big bulky easel in the way and I can leave it where it is without any hassles. I like to work lightly and build my layers. I rework areas too as I go along.

So here are a couple of images of my work from yesterday and today. I will upload more as I go, but forgive me if it may not be till next week as I am off to Melbourne .... Yay! Can't wait to go to some real art stores. I am a deprived country girl, we don't stock alot down here.
Comments always appreciated.

The fur looks soft enough to reach out and touch, and those eyes are beautiful. I'll be keeping an eye on this one too.

Howdy Holley :-)

You are doing a marvelous work on this.
It has a very sober colour that pleases me alot.
Great care on the drawing aspect.

Re: Doggie from RIL wip

Hi,

thanks for sharing your work. It is very helpful to see how you work.
And, this is going to be a wonderful painting. I love the "look" of this dog.
