1980's Bridal Jewellery

Here is the bride of 1980. I am still working on it. Have to paint the jewellery. I am really enjoying this series as I am learning a lot from this one. Regardless of painting... as jewellery is my favourite subject too.... But painting jewellery is totally different than to wear it. It hurts my eyes...

Here I have painted the hair style of 1980, puffed one with curls in the hair. Also introduced more colors in the eyeshade to keep the look.

I was happy with the previous progress but still missed something. My saturated and vivid palette. So applied pinks on her cheeks. Also I gave the eyes a bit more soft look.

A closeup. Will keep you update.

Re: 1980's Bridal Jewellery

Thanks Smokin. You are a cheer leader.

Jean, well I have started to paint the jewells. Will add earrings and necklace. Thanks.

Annie, thanks a lot. Yes, I have found a pretty reference.

Aggie...mmmm yup.LOL...what can I say? Yes, our country is blessed with beauty. We are a mixed nation and have so many skin colors.

Well, ofcourse she doesnot need jewellery to add something to her beauty. But I bet she will look better with it. Thanks.

Thanks Kirk. I too enjoy this series as I am learning a lot.

Thanks all.

Here is an update. My start on the jewellery.

A close up.

Maria, this is the treat for me too. I just love folk costumes of any nationality. And bridal costumes are always the pretiest of them all. And your subject is a beauty and you executed her so well.

Re: 1980's Bridal Jewellery

Thanks Jean, Mom, Kareen, Annie and Tom to stop by and nice comments.

Well Kareen, our wedding ceremony longs for 6 days. Dholki, Maiyon, Mehndi (2 days function), Wedding day, Walima, Muklawa.

Dholki function starts a week before wedding day. On this day the women of bride groom's family come and sing songs on dholki (an instrument like drum) to wish the bride.

On Maiyon also known as Ubton women of bride groom's family bring some facial products to apply on bride so she will look much prettier on wedding day. It enhance the glow. Ubton is a shrub which makes the skin glow and soft.

On Mehndi, as I have narrated it is a two days function. On first day, women of bride groom's family goes to bride's house with Mehndi and seven married women from bride groom's family apply Mehndi on bride's hands. On the next day women of bride's family go to bride groom's house and do the same.

On wedding, ofcourse both persons are merried. On this day bride's family invite all the family members of both sides on dinner. Bride wears jewellery on that day. The whole set is from bride groom and one necklace is from bride's family.

On Walima, its a dinner party from bride groom's side on account of his wedding.

Muklawa, then bride and bride groom are invited from all the family members of bride's family. So first they visit bride's parents house. After that bride's uncles and aunties houses one by one on dinner.

PHeeeeeeeeewwwwwww......

Here is the finished piece.
