Question Medium cup question

Hello everyone

My new metal double medium cups seem to leak. Is this common or did I get a bad one? Are there brands that are better than others? I wanted to bring this along for plein air, but after a medium spill in my painting bag on my way to school I decided not to chance ruining my backpack by taking them with me on location.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

~Rain

Re: Medium cup question

me thinks you got a bad one...
but, I rather like the ones I got with my Guerrilla boxes...and believe you can order just those from them. Check their partner forum here in the ARtwork From Life forum...

two co-joined cups with threads and very good screw on tops.

Re: Medium cup question

I usually only use Liquin. Went to Walmart photo, and asked them for some empty film canisters. These little things with lids, hold it without leaking. As for thinner, I use and reuse the glass bottles that Grumbacher puts oderless thinner in, refilling them with Gamsol..The bottle travels inside a Ziploc in case of leakage.

Re: Medium cup question

Larry - I'll go check out the Guerilla box site. Thanks for letting me know that they're not all like leaky .

Annabella - great tips about using empty film canisters for Liquin. Do you mean the whitish film canisters as opposed to the black ones with the gray lids? I have some Liquin here somewhere. Might as well try that out too .

Re: Medium cup question

It really doesn't matter which color film canister you use- I find 1/2 inch in the bottom lasts a long time. When it gets too gunky, pitch it.
