Streaky Pink

Hi,

I just spent way to much money on a 1/4 pound of streaky pink glass. I haven't used it before, and I don't want to waste it. Are there any tricks that might help me get the pinkest shade possible?

Thanks Laurel

Re: Streaky Pink

It strikes.......just remember to let it cool and stick it back in the flame. I usually stick it high in the flame to make the pink come out good, tkaing it in and out. If you'll do a search on streaky pink, I'm sure you'll find lots of stuff on it! Kandice, the "pink queen"!, told me to heat the rod and take it out of the flame - immediately. The color the tip of the rod is, after it cools, will be the color you're going for! She's got some good stuff on pink!

Good luck!

Re: Streaky Pink

A little story about Streaky Pink. At one time we had 440 pounds of it and we sold it for around $24 per pound. When we got down to around 22 pounds the price jumped and I have seen this stuff go for as much as $500 per pound. Talk about selling low!

The only Streaky Pink that might be around is from those who bought it a long time ago. But though the streaky Pink is top dog, the new Bubble Gum Light Pink 591260BG from Effetre is unfrickenbelievable!

Thanks

Re: Streaky Pink

After I've formed the bead I let it cool, then I twirl the bead in the flame very, very fast. That is the only way I have been able to get the true bubblegum pink out of it. I've also figured out that thinner surface decoration doesn't strike as dark as thicker layers. I've attached a picture of the color I've been able to get.

p.s. I stocked up on the streaky pink years ago when I fell in love with the color, now I just wish I had bought more.

Re: Streaky Pink

Hi,

Thanks everyone. I bought some of the pink from Frantz glass today. Much more reasonably priced. I bought the streaky pink glass on ebay. I couldn't resist. I've heard so much about it, and I just started making beads, so this was a the only way to try it.
Thanks again,

Laurel

Emma

Read Mike's post. No real streaky pink to be found unless it's on Ebay.!

Re: Streaky Pink

Thanks Barb

I wasn't hoping to order any, just wanted to know the number. You never know over here what strange stocks might be left lurking in various stock cupboards! Just wanted to know what pink it was incase I ever came across anyone selling it here.

Streaky pink was a moretti color not bullseye. They are different COEs and very different glass.

Re: Streaky Pink

The bulleye Pinks are TDF!!! (Coe 90).

try the Odd lot Peony Pink among others!!

All the Odd Lots are TDF! Bullseye is doing a great job with color creation and nice even rod sizes!!
