Love your use of purple and orange! He's right, maybe you could paint the light on? The front very dark area looks to drop off a cliff. Maybe a few more horizontal lines of colour in that area would help that and slowly dimish the light on the surface of the water. I think this is a beautiful painting! I love the colours!
