I'm back! - Big Ben

Hi everyone,

I haven't posted here in a long time! After many MANY attempts at stipple drawings (that all failed miserably) I went back to my roots and was able to get a couple of drawings done in my old cross-hatch style. Here's the first of two:

It's 8.5x11 done in my sketchbook. This past week I took the train downtown and did these during the commute. It was nice not to be stuck in traffic and to actually do something while commuting.

Anyway, C&C welcome. A higher resolution version can be found here:

Thanks for looking!

Hi Andy,
Nice to see you and your work again! You know, I've been on the Amtrack out here in California and after riding down to San Diego on one I couldn't imagine how you can draw on one....maybe they are smoother now than they were in the early 80's.
If you are doing quality work like this with a technique you are comfortable with then I wouldn't worry so much...this is a wonderful piece of work here Andy. I love the angle of the tower in relation to the viewer, it gives a nice sense of height....Very nice work Andy.

Another amazing piece... I'm totally blown away by your ability to so effortlessly handle the perspective issues while nailing all of those architectural *angles*! Great job!

Thanks everyone!

Ron, the train rides are still bumpy but lucky for me my chicken scratches hide mistakes easily

Hey Andy, Nice to see you again. Also nice to see you working again. I really like this one. The angle on this is top-notch, and the perspective is awesome. I see you haven't lost your touch.

btw - I replied back to your email the other day, but it was returned to me as "address unknown" (???)

Andy, the perspective in this drawing is amazing. I can't imaging drawing that well on a train. I have enough trouble sitting on the couch between a Jack Russell and a Beagle (they feel they have to provide moral support). - Chris

I have to say good stuff as well. And if you are doing this on a train I tip my hat to you because it can't be easy. I know trains have gotten more modern, but still.

Excellent work.

Andy - I missed this when first posted. You've spent your time well on the commute. Very nice work. I think you nailed the perspective. - Marc
