Undersea Critters for Children's Clinic (lots of photos)

Just finished this one in Kinston, NC, downtown community health clinic. The walls were painted ultramarine blue, and they asked for a colorful ocean theme.
I tried not to make it too much like the Nemo cartoon movie!

This is right over the sign-in desk where you first come in. The desk is shaped like the bow of a boat.

Coral reef on each side of the sign-in desk...

Reception area left wall. This is the charcoal and chalk block-in for value and layout...

Finished dolphin mural

closeups:

Sea turtle mural, main reception area, right side.

Just incredible, Ruth! I love everything you did, and I, too, love the octopus the most... she has such sweet eyes, not something they usually have! You gave her a lot of personality. I just love how you made this look like it's underwater, without actually painting the FULL wall...the lights and darks, the bits of sand that blend in perfectly... you worked with the background blue so beautifully. I wish I had your design savvy, the way you put things together is just amazing. You stun me. When are you giving classes????

BTW, just so I can torture myself, how long did this take?

Michele

Hi Ruth...
I am totally (and not easily) impressed. What a great job you did on those murals. Knew you were good but that may be your forte! Congratulations.

Re: Undersea Critters for Children's Clinic (lots of photos)

Thank you all for your comments! I love the octopus too, kind of hated to leave it.
How long it took, I'd just have to guess ... maybe 18 hours actual painting time, plus research and preliminary sketches, etc.

Ruth

Hi, Ruth, once again a beauty. I particularly like the schools of fish - everything so lifelike but with gentle eyes. Just wonderful - thanks for sharing.

I bet the people at the clinic are thrilled - what a wonderful place to work at.

Terry
