flower abd vase-not finish yet

watercolour on 18x24 inches, 140lb c/p Strathmore paper.
i would like some critique and suggestion for the background color and the vase colour.

Right now the background for the flowers make them stand out nicely....and since they are fairly dark, the lighter background is a good contrast.

I suggest you lift out some of the color on the vase to make a more rounded shape and add a shadow to ground it to a surface.

Nice rich color in your flowers!

i think that background could be improved...
the colors in my oppinion are very good...

When I do backgrounds, I'm always looking for a complementary color. You could do a very pale red to set off the vase. I'm sure there are other complementaries you could use in this one, but I'd be inclined to just do a very pale gray.

This is a wonderful painting. SOme complementary color for sure either for background or vase.

good colour combinations in the flowers is it possible to change the colour of the vase,I dont think it does anything for the flowers,should be a bit brighter,maybe a dark red, just a thought-----------Alan
