Arabian Oryx and Ibex

Hello, I posted these in the soft pastel section but also put them here for you wonderful wildlife artists. All of your work is so amazing. Simply stunning!

I did these paintings several years ago when I worked in Abu Dhabi. They are Rembrandt soft pastel/Derwent pastel pencil on Ingres paper. I have more materials and a bit more experience now so could probably do a bit better. I also have a bit more spare time now to devote to art so hope to be doing a lot of it!
All c and c welcome.

Kiki

Wow! These are beautiful. I can almost "feel" the desert heat radiating from the oryx painting!! You captured it perfectly! Need my shades...

These are lovely. I like your choice of colour for the sky in your second one!

Well done! The 2nd one looks so cuddly and soft--except for those rather lethal looking spikes coming out of his head!! Beautiful!

Re: Arabian Oryx and Ibex

Oh my gosh, thank you all for the support and words of encouragement And to think I have had these two pictures sitting in a folder for the last 8 years...You are all such incredible artists - it is such an honor to have you look at my work and receive your comments.

I finally have a bit more time to devote to art now. I am self-taught and technically OK, but lack the confidence to show my work to people. Since I joined WC a few weeks ago, it is the first time I have really showed my work to other artists!

I plan to start doing much more painting now.

Thank you all,
Kiki

PS - my thanks to Fred for the photos I used as reference for these paintings.

OOOH I really like them. There is just something about them that really appeals to me but I can't identify what it is.
