I love what you've done with the charcoal, I also like the way you've cropped the image. It doesn't look like you've created a mess with the charcoals either, like I would've... heehee That's some neat-o grain you have there too.

Really great -- nice to see someone else pull out the charcoal.
LOL -- my hands are clean tonight -- went with CP.

very nicely done...not many people chose to do the flamingo in black and white, due to its bright pink/orange colors, but you have handled this very well!

Well done.
The contrast between dark and light gives the feel of the flamingo lit by moonlight and the stars are sparkling in the backgound.
I like it

Thumbs up

Excellent work. I know we're all about fine art here, but as a graphic designer, this would make a really good logo or monogram "S"

Surfinia, I love what you did with this flamingo and all with only black to white. Very nice modeling. Simple, elegant and VERY effective.

I love the way the background moves the bird forward. The rough texture of the background provides a good contrast to softness of the feathers. Nice work.

Gosh!

You've all said such nice things - I'm humbled.

Since I've been trying for greater value contrasts, with more attention to shadow vs light, I think my drawings have improved. This drawing was still not what I was shooting for, but I get closer to the goal each time.

Bobby - I had already decided to do charcoal before Friday, but when I saw all those brilliant colors download I was so overwhelmed by it I almost decided to go for color. I'm actually glad I stuck to the black and white - would not have done so well in color I think.
