Cute kid. Check the ears. I think the right one is higher than the left, but the other features are level.

Re: First post here-my boys

Thanks for compliments everybody! I'm sorry I forgot to mention-it's done on 12x16 canvas panel with colourless oil stick and conte crayon. Nafa, thanks for bringing the right ear up I'll fix it up.
Thanks again!
K.

What's your opinion regarding oil sticks?

Hi Janet
Thanks for the compliment!I don't know much about oil sticks, but I got a book for Christmas about drawing techniques and there they talked about using clear oil sticks+conte crayons. I really liked the example so I decided to try it too. First I did a figure on pastel paper-wasn't that happy with the result 'cause the oil was kind of getting in the paper and no matter how much I would put on-was not enough to work with. So I bought the canvas panel and started this portrait. I absolutely loved each minute of painting or drawing-not sure what to call it. I was applying oil, then crayon and blending with my finger. You can work and rework and whipe it clean with a paper towel. It dries so slow and gives you time to come back to it hours later. One thing though- I think it gets lighter once it dries.
