phantom tulips wip
hi all
I spent a few hours a couple of days ago...playing with photoshop and some of the photos I had saved as inspiration..from the image lib. and my own....
This first one... is full sheet 300# arches....mixed bag of artist quality paints...
I know right now it looks like I have it tipped sideways hopefully that will not be the case when i finish...Pardon the extremely curled paper....I'll sort that out later.....
found the photo...by Dyin
Hope this doesn't take forever to load.....
Lauren

Re: phantom tulips wip
Lauren -- This is really coming along beautifully -- and having lived in Michigan for many years I can understand why you're thinking tulips.
Don't understand how Photoshop entered into this process? Just your preliminary tinkering around with the reference photo I guess?

I want a seat in the front row for this one, Lauren! Gorgeous already, the motherwash and the washy shapes are fantastic!

Re: phantom tulips wip
Thanks for the head's up on this, Lauren...you're doing a beautiful job with this reference! I really like the color contrast between the shadows and the flower color...a great play of complements. I'm in the process of moving, so please drop me a line when this is done, I think it will be lovely.

Re: phantom tulips wip
Lauren....
Interesting approach.....had me fooled. Are you using your new brush?...
#300 works good with masking tape....just to keep the water from going under.....that way if you mess up you can use the back....
Ottawa has a great tulip festival each year.....so many ......and so varied.

Re: phantom tulips wip
Ruth, Jutta and Patty.....shucks...thanks ....hopefully it won't end up in Brian's fix your stinker thread!
Dyin...thanks for stopping...but more importantly thanks for providing the inspiration.. I'll drop you a pm when i'm done...
Char...I have never worked directly from the computer before....but now with my spiffy new laptop (christmas) It's so convenient! Thanks for peeking in...
Marc, Lyn and Doug
Brian....well...where were you when I started! LOL....I decided I had better deal with the curled paper sooner rather than later...so I put the painting in a tub of water for about 10 minutes....with some interesting and unplanned effects.....
Taped down painting before the "bath"
Dry and flat enough....
I am anxious to get back at it....probably work more tonight...

Re: phantom tulips wip
Lauren....
Well, if putting it in the bath for some "interesting and unplanned effects" then I'm all for it.....

Re: phantom tulips wip
If you don't tell anyone that those effects were *unplanned*, we'll keep your secret... How clever of you to try that *technique* by soaking this in the tub! hehehe
Seriously... looks terrific! Your yellow and red tulip is jumping off the paper!
