Cold feet

I work in a gift shop that sells my jewelry along with other hand made jewelry, glass and various other handcrafts. We also sell regular "kid-friendly" stuff - rubber snakes, astronaut ice cream etc. Well this week is our 1 year anniversary. This Sat we are having an open house and two other artists (not jewelry) are giving demos. For some reason I said I'd give a beadweaving demo. Now I am wondering what the h*ll I was thinking. I am terrified!!! I've been trying to get a few things together to take and I am freaking out!! I thought I could have 3 or 4 different "projects" started so I could show how to do the beadweaving. I guess it's cold feet but boy my stomach is in knots and I don't have to do this thing till Sat! Has anyone else experienced this? How did you get throu it? I don't think they will let me drink.

Re: Cold feet

Don't worry you'll do fine.

Maybe it would help to do some practice demos with family members or friends before Saturday... If you do it a couple times beforehand, you will probably feel much more comfortable the day you have to do it at the shop.

It's natural to get nervous - you'll do fine - just concentrate on the work and all esle disappears and all of a sudden, it's like in another world of calm and peace.

Re: Cold feet

I was nervous the first time I taught a class too. But I think you'll find that those individuals who stop by to see your demonstration will be fascinated with what you're doing. They will want to learn how. They will ask questions. You'll be surrounded by people who are interested in what you're doing.

After this event is over, you'll say "What was I worried about? That was easy!"

Let us know how it went, OK?

Re: Cold feet

Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts and remarks. My demo was today and it went just fine. I didn't end up selling anything but quite a few people asked if I gave classes. My family and a few friends showed up and that made me feel good. My bosses were pleased and I finished 3 pieces there that went right into the display cases for sale. When I told my one boss about people asking about classes she said that the shop could maybe sponser a workshop. So I guess I'll be back right before the workshop saying "What was I thinking? I'm so nervous!" All the compliments from people were nice but sales would have been better. Oh well all in good time. Thanks again!
