Three in OP

I'm brand new to oil pastels. Just thought I'd try them out, as I usually work in soft pastel, so I bought myself a 50-pc set of Senneliers last week. Here are my first three attempts. I spent less than an hour on #1 and less than 2 hours on #3, as I'm trying to work faster and more loosely.

I have a lot to learn--but I love these oilies!

1. Sunflower, 8.5 x 8.5 on Art Spectrum. I was just trying to get the feel for the OPs with this one. Lots of fun!
2. Green Apple, 12 x 12 on Wallis (I've made some slight changes to this one since this photo).
3. Orange spiral, 8 x 10 on Wallis (I've smoothed out that seasick tabletop on this one, and corrected some of the shadow ares--I'll repost when I get a chance to take pics).

Re: Three in OP

Those are wonderful-- you got a level of detail that's amazing while still being very painterly.

New??? I don't believe it, Kim. These are just great and very painterly. Don't you just love the colors?

Those paintings just flow in most natural way. I love the luminous orange you did especially.
