Sweet puppy dreams...

This was done to go with the other sleeping puppies I did. Decided this one would have the pup sleeping on a couch....lol. Not sure I'm happy with the couch yet, so any pointers would be appreciated. Again...this was done in Painter9.

Well, it is a little dark, but I like the contrast, it gives a real "Middle of the night" feel to this. Both puppy portraits are just amazing!!!!!

I wish we had a distant lamp that provided for a few more dramatic contrasts.

Re: Sweet puppy dreams...

I'm torn between wanting more detail, to likeing it as is as was stated middle of the night, when it is dark and little light is available. Adorable again!

Re: Sweet puppy dreams...

Thanks for the comments, and I've also had a few other people say all they saw on the right was darkness. I loved the suggestion from Skinny, so put a soft light in from the left, and then lightened up the couch too.

Re: Sweet puppy dreams...

I have to agree with the "more contrast" group. Nothing makes a dark look darker than adding some light (and vice versa). Nice job on the puppy!

You posted your edited image as I was commenting. I like the addition of the lightsource.

Re: Sweet puppy dreams...

This is cute. Nice job on the puppy. I think I would soften the outline of the puppy a bit as it looks almost pasted. Also while the first painting seems too dark, the second does not have enough contrast between the light and the dark.
