Post Drawing critique (one for the ladies)

Michael, and Milt, you suggested that this forum could be used for drawing critique... Well here are some drawings I made - studies on anatomy from Hogarth.

These were made with a 0.5mm HB. The drawings are small - I did not reduce them once they were scanned. (The first pictures shows a ghost image of the second - the paper is thin, and the scanner picked it up).

henrik..nice way to "kick-off" the drawing posts in this forum!! (I'll bet we will see a lot of activity here).
I also have (Mklanglo has) a book by Hogarth,,"Dynamic Figure Drawing" I believe.
Your drawings are very good..and studying his work..will give you some good structural insights.
He tends to emphasize muscles and form which allows one to see areas we might not see at all on (less developed) people...so anatomically..this knowledge is certainly beneficial. henrik, drawings such as you have here are ALWAYS good practice..I continue to do many figure sketches..especially areas that are problematic. One thing I've noticed..(contrary to belief--for me anyway) is that fore-shortened figures..are often EASIER to draw..because the lines and angles seem to be easier to see. Not sure if you have noticed this yourself?? Hope to see more henrik.
Final note..I also scan nearly all of my sketches directly..they are small, and the scan allows a better quality image than the one I posted under "Sketch Page". (Scanner was down, so I shot it with my digital camera.
btw...how do you feel about doing drawings like the ones you have posted here..do they help?

Thumbs up

Nice work, Henrik! I noticed some blocking in the drawings; did you block in the figures first with geometrical shapes?

Michael - yes I do find that scetches like these help - I do have problems using the "knowledge" obtained by doing them - I think I need to practice a lot to have the ability to draw images like these just from imagination.

Cindy, yes the figures started as simler geometrical forms - the hogarth book shows exactly how to do them.
