*** Daily Wash Friday 17th May 2013 ***

Good morning all. A rather dull start to the day here, rain forecast for later 8C.

Theatre tonight, "Fawlty Towers" should be good. Pre theatre meal at a friend's house.

Bill, I forgot to say what a beautiful Magnolia photo you took. Miss feral looks comfortable

We have an airlock in the hot supply upstairs, water is very slow. Hope it resolves itself, it usually does.

Doug

Good morning, washers

Hi Doug

Ellen for your son.
Bill - Ms Feral looks fierce and awesome. What a beauty.
Annie, what a lovely description of your symphony in paradise.
JJ - ((Esmerelda))

Lynn, I belong to a CarShare group called Zip Car and I absolutely love it. I joined when I sold my car a couple of years ago. I took the extra insurance coverage, and last year their car got banged up in the parking lot. I sent them photos, and they were just "Okay, you are insured, no problem." In my experience the cars are always where they should be, are always clean and ready to go, and always just purr along.

I finally broke down and ordered my canning jars on line, plus an extra box of lids and bands for the jars I have hanging around here. Jars came fine. Lids came without bands - different item number, I ordered correctly, they didnt read. Big frustrations with customer service - i.e., "Oh, send it back to us, we give give you a credit, and you can reorder" sounds more or less reasonable, but not when one gets used to some of the amazing customer service that is available on-line. With this company, a major hardware chain, no box, no return label, I would pay shipping (and not get it refunded). I ended the call, called again the next day, and told them I was less than happy with their customer service and intended to tell my friends. They backed off, said to keep the lids and they would send me the package of bands and lids.

Got them today - for 'wide mouth' jars, not what I ordered. Called again, more 'send them back' baloney. Grrr. If I am not happy by Monday I am going to tell all of you, and everyone I know, the name of the store.

Everything else is fine. I feel good. Louie is getting fat and sassy. The garden (terrace) is blooming.

Back later.

Doris

Evening all.

Doug we will have to coordinate on times. Hpoing our wifi can deal with a garden tour.

Doris, so sorry about your experience with the lack of service department. We have several in this country.

JJ at least they were honest enough to leave their details. How does one back into a parked car???? Betcha it was an urban assault vehicle. AKA 4WD.

I delayed the great provisioning expedition to pick up a friend who has some sort of rheumatological disorder. She is seeing specialists etc but she is getting so thin. I worry.Deposited her at her place of work in Samford and then ordeal by stupid market. Got home, after calling at the post office and just as WE were unloading the car Roger got a call from a mate. There's a job going at Coolangatta. He said no. Two plus hours there and two plus hours back ? NO. And we are not moving. However he was quite chuffed to get the offer.

Bit of gardening, bit of burning How I love bonfires. Roger had the fireman helmet on tonight.

Got our first sugar loaf cabbage. Something with braised pork, crispy bacon, separately roasted tatie cubes, on a bed of steamed peppery cabbage and some sour cream tossed through. Forgot the pine nuts.

I'm inventing

Good to hear you are feeling better Doris, hope it stays that way.

Pity your online supplier has such a poor service. Last Item I bought was a tablet which proved faulty and I got a free courier collect and a refund from Misco.

Alright Doug. Its dark and quiet now. I did look up time zones and you were something to midnight this morning, unless the Apple times are as accurate as their maps. It's the slant of the planet that does it. Mark my words! They said it would happen. Someone should DO something about it.

I also forgot onions and garlic and I may leave out the bacon because I am too lazy.

Re: *** Daily Wash Friday 17th may 2013 ***

Hi Everyone

Let's see it is 3:30AM here in OHIO. Yep I'm awake since 2:30AM.

I worked at the museum store last evening - - - a pattern is developing. The young lady who is a paid staffer gives you a task to do such as unpack or tag merchandise with the bar coded price labels. I ask questions to make sure I'm putting the right labels on the right merchandice. She leaves to go home around 5pm. Then another paid staffer comes in. We continue the process then around 7pm the store manager comes in and you find out that everything you have done since you got there is ALL WRONG. Then she is mad.

Since I don't print out the labels I can only use what is given to me. Last night it was pricing these handmade paper flowers that come as Hair pins, with pin backs as dress pins or long stems to stand in a vase. You have large or small flowers in each catagory.

By the end of the night the staffer I love to work with and I were nearly crazy. As the person before me had labeled flowers too.

I told her a couple of weeks ago that I was not feeling good about the communication on doing tasks and she is seeing it firsthand. Having said this I don't think this is news to those who have been there for a long time.

You know in my nursing profession you have to make sure you are correct in dong things. There are no mistakes as it could cost a life so you are very sure of what you are doing. Granted this is not the same situation but on the other hand look at the amount of time spent redoing things.

We were flower crazy when we left last night.

Well today is another day.....

I've experimented with the Dylusions Spray Inks and have made about 40 cardstock pages for journaling. Got some really pretty pages.

I bought a new watercolor book by Shirley Trevena this week. LOVE IT. I'm going to buy a couple sheets of watercolor paper today. Ready to paint BIG and LOOSE.

Started an online Writing Course in the basics as refresher through Coursera and the end of May will be doing an online Art Course for 7 weeks.

JJ ---Sorry about the car. Just makes you sick I know. Glad the other person left a note.

Darla---Hope you get to go to the Art Fair this weekend.

Ellen---I just had my husband back up onto other disks all our pictures. I worry about losing them too and intend to start printing them out to put in albums. We have tons put there are all digital.

Doris---I love watching the Bravo TV show on the guys in real estate in NYC. Some really high end things they show. I have never been to NYC and someday I'm gonna go. I want to visit a store called the INKPAD. Hope you are feeling well.

Bill--Ms. Ferral looks really well taken care of and really happy. She LOVE YOU

Wishing everyone else a Great Weekend

Anita

Hi everyone
still working my way through holiday pics ...... reliving it as well
We are already talking about 'next time'.....will definitely include a stop-over on the way back. Working out a way we can include Ormskirk as well......

Went back to the travel agent today to tell her all about our trip and about the airlines we travelled on (Etihad and Virgin Australia), both good airlines, plenty of leg room and good meals. Alas, not plenty of sleep, but that wasn't their fault lol
Also paid for the accommodation of our next trip - to the Cook Islands - rather different to the one we've just returned from! and only 4 hours flying time Less than 7 weeks to go....
We were last there 30 years ago!

Doug, Faulty Towers should be fun!

JJ, first day out with our new car someone hit it in the carpark.....didn't leave any contact details either.

Bill, Ms Feral is beautiful, she looks like a larger version of Alfalfa.

Annie the only burning done here is with the inside fire! We are in for a wet (and cold) weekend....

Glad you are feeling better Doris.

Hi Anita, the writing course sounds interesting.

Can anyone tell me, please, is there a way of reducing the size of the video clips I took with the camera? or embedding them? I want to send some in emails and they are taking forever to load.....I suppose I could look at the camera book instructions lol

ps: Doug, meant to tell you, in my wakeful state coming home on the plane, I was pleased to find a series of 'Put Colour in YOur Life' programmes, watched 7 of them!

Woohoo, looking forward to that!

Yes CIYL is a great series, I watch a new episode every Sunday morning in the UK.

Videos? Easiest way is to upload them to Youtube, make them private and just include the link in your friend's email.

Happy FRIDAY all!

It's partly cloudy/partly sunny this morning with a pleasant breeze. They are calling for a nice day; tomorrow and Sunday we have a 20% chance of a shower.

I've still not decided for sure if I want to take the girls to the art fair or not. Jen is working and so is Larry and it'd be me alone with all three girls. My lower back was killing me yesterday and by the time I went home from work I wanted to cry and of course when I got home Klaira wanted me to hold her.Anyway, it feels better today.

I really need to find time to get out in my perennial garden; maybe this weekend but I don't want to hurt my back anymore so will have to take it easy and careful.

Larry put the tomatoes and marigolds up so that the chipmunk cannot eat them. The tips were nipped off and he still needs to put out the live trap. Hoping we catch him this weekend.

I hope you all have a GREAT friday and weekend coming up. For some of you it's already here.

G'DAY!

Re: *** Daily Wash Friday 17th May 2013 ***

Good Day All,
A beautiful morning and I’ll work in the garden until we head for K-Mart to pick up a new mixer. Not the expensive Kitchen Aid, just a $39.00 special that will do the trick. It has a bread hook.

Annie, your meals sound delicious. Glad Roger got an offer. At least he knows he’s wanted.

Doug, sounds like a long shower. I like your boat photo yesterday. It’s my kind of subject. Maybe I’ll give it a go.

Doris, I’d like to know the name of the store either way. They can’t compete with that attitude. Will you be canning your own grown vegs?

Anita, I admire the way you keep yourself busy. The online courses are a good mind exercise, too.

Lulu, sounds like your trip was perfect. My wife can’t sleep on planes, but I have little trouble.

Darla, hope you catch the chipmunks. Bait the trap with peanut butter.
I’d take care not to injure your back again with the trip coming up. Go to the art fair next year. I’ll meet you there.

Janet heard her favorite and last living uncle died yesterday. So, we may be making a trip to Owen Sound, Ontario. Her decision.

Time for a little brekky and then off to the garden.
Bill

Hi to All

Just popping in to say hello from a beautiful sunny and warm day here in Scotland

We had a meeting with Lesleys Urology Surgeon this morning, the bad news is that the kidney cancer she has been diagnosed with is a complicated one requiring difficult surgery, she has been referred to the best Surgeon in Scotland at the major cancer centre in Glasgow...The Beatson West Of Scotland Cancer Centre...all very stressful! but we will fight through this!

Re: *** Daily Wash Friday 17th May 2013 ***

Good Morning all,
It is almost 11:00 a.m. here in pleasantly comfortable Oakwood. We had a very heavy fog in the area this morning...schools on delayed opening because it was so thick it wouldn't have been safe for the buses carrying the kids, a 20-car pile up on the Interstate Hghwy north of us caused by 0 visibility. I love the look of fog, but I wasn't out driving in it.

Finished my Sunset painting (and discovered the reference photo in the RIL was of a Moonrise ) which I've posted in The Gallery. The link is in my signature line if you'd like to see a larger version.

Henry, I'm glad Lesley is going to be seeing the absolutely best surgeon in Scotland for her surgery. White light, healing vibes, and best wishes for success with her treatments. to both you you.

Doris, What a shame you are having such a hassle getting the items you need for canning. I used to do that when we were first married...learned how from my Mom who canned tomatoes and fruit my Dad grew in his garden each year. Now I take the easy route and freeze things when they are in season to use when they aren't. Hope you can get the proper things you need before the food is ready to be canned.

Bill, Loved the photos you had in the Wash yesterday. Beautiful cat and beautiful flower.

Annie, on Roger deciding four hours a day on the road wasn't a really good idea. Must have been a salve on his bruised ego though to know he could have had the job if he wanted. Your dinner sounds delicious.

Anita, How frustrating that the people who are in charge don't coordinate things before having volunteers spend hours working on something like that. This weekend there are a couple of art shows you might find interesting: WOWS is at the Town & Country Gallery and Tri-Art is at the High Street Gallery from 1:00 p.m — 5:00 p.m.

to all who were here before me and to those still on their way.

SYL,

Sylvia
