Dr.Ph Martin's bombay ink
I recently got to try a new ink and wanted to share my experience.
I had been using Sanfords "Higgins" ink. I needed blue for a project and the store I usually buy it at was out of stock of a lightfast blue. The other store from which I usually buy supplies stopped carrying higgins ink. I had never heard of the ink they now carry, Dr. Ph Martin's Bombay. I went ahead and bought several bottles to try.
I applied the ink with a brush for this project. I do some inking with a pen but haven't tried this ink with a pen yet. Here is what I think.
- The ink dries a little faster than higgins and is I found it harder to remove from the plastic palette I use to mix it in.
- The opacity is greater than the colored higgins ink.
- The brush held its shape much better. I was using a #2 sable brush and found thin lines were much easier to ink without the brush trying to separate.
The last point was the most suprising to me. This property has made me decide to abandon the higgins ink. It has improved my confidence with I believe improved the look of the project.
Does anyone else have comments on other brands of inks?
