Two Wee Doggies (WIP)

Hello all,
just thought i'd share a painting i'm currently doing for my daughter and Son-in-law....they lost their 'Wee Dougal'..two weeks ago...(the white dog)...both dogs are Lhaso-apso's....the photo i have is quite small and not very clear...however i'm doing the best i can....i just went right in and painted without doing a line drawing....as i didn't want a photographic look to it....i will finish it tomorrow i hope, as it's too late tonight....see what you think...thanks for looking....boxed canvas 12''x9''.

If I were your daughter and son-in-law, I would be thrilled to have such a charming and personal remembrance of my late fur-friend!

What a considerate act, Caroline. You have a very good start there. I can see their little personalities taking shape!

Caroline - they're so adorable! ... expect tears from the owners!!!!!! .... I'm sure your daughter and SIL will be pleased though.

Would you consider lightening the chair behind the dark dog to give a bit of contrast there? Just a thought so he doesn't get lost!

Re: Two Wee Doggies (WIP)

Hi all.....thanks BJ Maureen and Carol for the feedback and help....the photo i'm using as i said is very small and is in full light...and i'm trying to put in colour which is not there...lol... if you see what i mean.....this is defiantly a one off....anyway i have not finished it tonight ....i showed it to my grandaughter earlier on this evening for the first time..(her Mum and Dad don't know about it yet)... and she hugged it...they thought a lot of their dog...he went blind too....the wee soul...so i made up the eyes as they were just white....i'll just finish it off tomorrow i hope and i hope they will like it......see if you think it's getting there. thanks for looking.

Looking very good...an added softness it seems. Like that pop of red, too.

Re: Two Wee Doggies (WIP)

Thanks Jon......well...calling it finished now it's not a bad likeness and my home critic (hubby) says it's fine so thanks to all who commented and kept me painting.
