Still not working
Thanks mate. I've tried all of that. There is nothing in the drop down menu other than untitled misture and even that won't show.
I like the idea of mixing colours but how about a chart with a whole variety of colours, that explains the formula to save time?
Some of us are a bit clueless about how colours actually work and this would be an invaluable tool as well.
Thanks

I think you're looking in the wrong place. Custom colors don't show up where your mixtures are. They show up below that, in the actual palette mixing area. They show up as a color you can choose to create custom mixtures (which *do* show up in the top area).

So what do I click on?
To find my colour exactly then? What is "Your saved Mixtures"? then. I can't see any button to click to see my colours I've mixed, not can I see any colours in the palette below.

Your custom colors show up in the area below, where you actually choose colors and quantities to mix. Look at the bottom of the drop down lists.
A "mixture" is the result of mixing two or more colors together (including your custom colors, if you choose). You give a mixture a name and "save" it, for later recall.

Re: Help build the WC! Virtual Palette! :)
I am having the same exact problems as Lady Coralie. I understand how the section below works ( I think), but I don't understand the "Define a custom color" section. I put in the values, name the color, select a tinting strength, then click "Save Custom Color", but nothing happens. I just don't get it.

It saves the color into your custom color list. When the page reloads, look below, at the bottom of the dropdown list of colors. Your custom color should appear there for you to use.

Holey moley! This virtual Palette is great. I can scan a color get the CMYK from my paint program and get a tonal range for it and its complement!
Yeeehaaaa!

Re: Help build the WC! Virtual Palette! :)
I can't believe it! I just stumbled on the virtual palette tonight...how have I missed this until now??! It's just incredible. I tried it out by putting in some of my old tried and true (well, sorta) flesh mixtures and got exactly what I get on my palette. I couldn't believe it. I can't wait to experiment....especially on those tricky shadow colors and reflected lights. This is really a wonderful tool! Thank you WC and especially you, Scott!!
Wonderful!

Re: Help build the WC! Virtual Palette! :)
Hello All,
I have a suggestion for the virtual palette: why have a "preview" of the color you're mixing?
Start out with a preview of the base color and have it change when you're adding other colors to the base so you can get a feel if you're on the right track.
Thanks
Jason

Re: Help build the WC! Virtual Palette! :)
I love this virtual palette! But I do have one question. I posted it under a different thread and it was suggested that I put it here since it was a good question.
I understand about putting in the CMYK values for a color to create a custom color and saving it. My question is...
Can virtual palette take that custom color and give me the "recipe" to mix that color? I was hoping that I would be able to get the paint colors and amounts of each to mix to get that color.
Example: If I were to be able to get the CMYK values of one of the shades of blue in the wings of a Morpho Butterfly thru Photo shop, could I enter those values in virtual palette and it tell me how much of whatever colors are needed to mix this color?
I new at this, so one of my concerns is mixing paint colors and only getting "mud". A tool like this would be great for newbies like myself at least until I have enough experience under my belt.

Re: Help build the WC! Virtual Palette! :)
i too want to know if their is a way to list the color you want and it can work backwards for you. this works great if you know your colors, but if you are clueless, well i can spend hours there and not get anything i am looking for =)
