Mailly-le-chateau

MY IMAGE(S):

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Title: Mailly-le-chateau
Year Created: 2005
Medium: Acrylic
Surface: Board
Dimension: 12x16
Allow digital alterations?: Yes!

MY COMMENTS:
First time in this forum (I use to post in the acrylic forum - not very often). I'm a beginner and I am experimenting with the knife these months (completely done with a knife).

I know there are many problems in this attempt but, overall, is it viewable? Does it read well? I tend to like this loose style ...

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
Any comments for my next exercices would be appreciated (things to take care of, to avoid, etc...).

This looks great, shadows work very well. Perhaps the sky could have been lighter to give some definition to the forground?

I think this is a great painting! I could not like it better. Among the many points that are pleasing is the vibration or tension set up between the red door and the red on the flower pot. Not only an echo of color but an echo of shape. I would hang this painting, it makes me feel good.

Good to see you here Daniel. Doing this detail isnt easy with a knife. I think you have a flair for it. Hope you post more here.

Re: Mailly-le-chateau

Thank you all for your kind comments. I was expecting more negative comments on details. But, I am more interested by the overall look than by exactness of details.

That encourages me to continue ...

Re: Mailly-le-chateau

I like this painting and liked it even more when I read you used a knife. I think a tiny bit of definition between the left roof line and the sky would help it but overall I think it is complete. Red door is awesome.
