Re: November Classroom - TreeCreature - Homework
Hi
I have been posting in The Fatasy forum, I would like to join this class. I posted in the water color forum a long time ago, but I feel I need to go back and brush up my skills.
I will try to work on a TreeCreature!

Re: November Classroom - TreeCreature - Homework
Hi Terry... WOW! I've read through your theory thread and need to go back and re-read... Thinking I might attempt a winter theme... this is really going to be fun, because I have NO imagination whatsoever... I'll really have to stretch my grey matter to accomplish this one!
And, thank you sooooo much for doing this... your paintings are magical!!!

Wow! This is definately not going to be a walk in the park but I'm willing to give it a shot. Thanks for doing this. I've admired your work.... especially loved the Santa. Have to spend some thinking time before I even get the paper out.

Re: November Classroom - TreeCreature - Homework
Oh, dear, this looks like too much fun! Why did I have to run into this the first day of the month? I might have to join in, too. I really admire your lovely 'line,' btw; first-class drawing skills you have there.
I think I'll draw on tracing paper, with my w/c pencils. One of my current library books is of Fantasy creatures or Drawing from Imagination (okay, I forget the title, but it has one really good page about facial expressions ), so perhaps I'll do something fantastic.

Re: November Classroom - TreeCreature - Homework
Thanks for doing this Terry and being so generous with your time and sharing how you do this. I really would like to join in but I have no time at all for now to even paint, but maybe later on this month I can give it a shot. I love your hidden creature paintings and one's imagination also gives one freedom to create with no limitations!! I need a christmas card idea so am hoping to maybe create something along those lines.

Re: November Classroom - TreeCreature - Homework
Well, I don't have tracing paper, so this will let me take
myself out on a limb and say I am doing this freehand
looking at your GREAT illustration ... I am a fair hand at
drawing, so this should see "how fair" my skills are...
Thanks, Jo in Georgia

Re: November Classroom - TreeCreature - Homework
Welcome All...some new faces......How Cool!!!!
I know it looks complicated but once you get the basic tree shape you'll be ok. Work small section at a time, it probably would be easier if you did your own creation rather than try to copy mine. Thats the part I like, not referring to references and just drawing.
Marianne..excited to see your rendition, fantasy plays a big part here
Atheas....Enjoy
JJ........Calm down ..you have halloween hangover..no need to be exact, do it your way...I screwed up the link in thread can't fix it now but the one in my sig works
Char....You started this now you're stuck I bet you have oodles of stuff in that grey matter
Helen..thats the ticket..play with some doodles...example; think frog..then draw a frog but not a real one..he's whimsical so don't have to be correct
Carol....Lots of fun you'll see
Pearl... ....Great, you'll probably outdo me
Ruth.......We'll wait for you
Jo....no problem..do what is comfy for you..be careful with the eraser on hotpress..
I'm going to go start the painting section now............see ya later

Re: November Classroom - TreeCreature - Homework
Well... thinking my composition leaves something to be desired... probably need to move some things around... so, can you tell me what works and what should be moved, deleted, changed???? It's really looking kind of *jumbled*...
It really WAS fun drawing this!!! I know right now that I'm going to have a blast with this painting...
On the front tree root is a scarf that I haven't finished... in the negative space to the right are a couple more evergreens... and, of course, I still need to complete all the bark lines...

Re: November Classroom - TreeCreature - Homework
OK... taking a deep breath... I am going to give this a try. LIke Char, I have no imagination so this is going to really be a stretch. But I also need Christmas card ideas so if it is OK I will work with Christmas images. What is really cool is that there are no ref images. I can doodle at work! This might even be fun!
