Long haired calico - Pastel on velour.

First i'd like to say thankyou to Gayre for her beautiful photo in the RIL

i used hard and soft pastels for this peice, it's pretty small but i can't be bothered measuring it right now lol

He/she is a beautiful cat and was a lot of fun to paint

iv'e actually gotten quiet a few commissions so it's nice to be able to do something for myself for a change

Jess,

Wow, he just looks so lifelike. I really like your choice of colors for the calico pattern in the oranges. His eyes are wonderful, I have to agree with cyber_holic, you just want to pet him. What kind of pastels are you using, and what paper/board did you use?

i use the same for every peice, the cat is on grey velour paper and i used

hard pastels - cont'e, prismacolor nupastels.

soft pastels - sennelier, art spectrum, rembrandt and schminckes.

pastel pencils, just derwent and some carborthello

Well I think your other cat drawing is very good!!! I think Pastels are definately you !!

What a lovely painting of "Jade"! Thank you for honoring her in such a beautiful way. She's a sweet kitty, and I am sure she'd be pleased. Jade is a cat I used to pet sit for, and I think it was very nice of her to pose for the photo for me. :-)

WC has helped me so much, especially all the members, iv'e learned a lot since being here and have even sold four commissions with another five on the way.

i especially love the WIP threads, i always study them so i can learn more and pester the members who use pastels on velour like me, they always answer my questions though and are so helpful
