Re: VLC7 - Male Frontal Nudity
BJ, another great one! I like the bits of orange surrounding the figure..bringing in the light around him. You've got yourself a series started with these pastels! Really nice and vibrant!
Mark, love this pose so much-you have it down so well and I am afraid to give it a try just yet! I'll keep looking at yours! B&W is very effective!

Bee, try simplifying the image by converting everything into geometric shapes, I find this helps me with all kinds of dificult poses...I have done this pose as I see it simplified.

Mark, thank you...I have not learned yet to do this automatically so the reminder was a good thing for me!! Keep me in line. I have just read about that in Hale's Drawing Lessons.

Re: VLC7 - Male Frontal Nudity
Pauline- Thank you. I was on vacation for a better part of the week so I had more time. Now, I'm back at work, in retail, paying the bills with a lesser amount of time to paint  ;
Pam- Thank you and for the series idea.
Mark- Wonderful perspective, And thanks for that geometric design lesson. I have a hard time breaking a painting down that way but your visual allows me to see the perspective in a brand new way

I found that fascinating - this seems to follow the body: the way I would see it would (I think) be maybe more value based?
Anyway, here's the sketch:

Re: VLC7 - Male Frontal Nudity
It is amazing how different people see the same pose...I have found this out while I was teaching....some pupils could not get to grips with the measuring side of drawing the figure and found it easier to use the shape method, I will have to try your method for other students.
It is the first time I have seen a demo of how people see the tonal areas...thanks for posting your perspective on the pose.
By the way love the mark making in your sketch fippetygibbet, I am a big fan of an expressive line.
