Talking Wip Aceo Ruths Dandelions

Here is the masking on the dandelions. arches hot press, 2 1/2 x3 1/2 , Pebeo masking fluid well shaken, fairly fine dip pen nib. I hope you are able to see the masking as it is grey. some of the lines got a little fat but I didn't want to start over , hope it turns out.

Looks great to me, Otter... These ACEO's are really
hard on my eyes... but it looks sooo interesting how
everyone does the flyaway seeds...

Re: Wip Aceo Ruths Dandelions

Em, yes got your PM, thanks very much, have read part of the thread but as you can see I have been super busy lately, will get back to you shortly, (I hope).

Ok, this is a mess, it did not turn out like planned. I am going to post both front and back so that you all can see what happened. It is definately NOT hot press paper, I have no idea what it is, maybe it will be ok for colored pencils or pastels or maybe lining the trash basket, it is definately not watercolor paper.

I will re- do the whole thing tomorrow night hopefully. I am so disapointed I could cry.

Re: Wip Aceo Ruths Dandelions

I have to agree with JJ on this one...front side is lovely!!

I am sorry for your pain and can commiserate.....

once I had my hubby make a wooden frame to fit my oversize 300lb 40"x60" paper so I could paint a landscape for his office wall. it was a great deal of effort to make the frame and to stretch the paper on it

I bought two 2" flat brushes so I could actually apply paint to that sucker.

I wet the sky to prepare for the washes - I made up a bucket of sky colour using almost a whole tube of paint.

after applying the first wash of colour for the sky and quickly dabbing off areas for clouds and keeping the whole thing wet and trying to get no blooms I was fairly happy with the result.

until it dried.

two marks smaller than a dime, but smack in the middle of blue sky, of concentrated colour. they were NOT there while painting and while I was watching it dry keeping an eye out for blooms and such.

all I can figure was it was defective paper.

I cried a river. and I have to laugh (now) because the paper is still stapled to the frame and sitting in our exercise room getting in the way. I just don't have the heart to take it off and bin it. lmao

sometimes there just is no explanation.

lucky it was only a tiny piece with not as much effort put into it as a larger one.

no worries about returning my PM Otter - I was just wondering if you had recieved it since I don't ask for receipts when the prompt comes up.

Re: Wip Aceo Ruths Dandelions

I managed to get a little time to paint this evening but had to spend part of it on a major search for some REAL arches hot press. Found it, watermark and all. I re drew and re-masked the whole thing, changed the composition a little though, sorry about that. I felt that this might balance a little better.

It still has the masking and I salted the background so the salt is still there as I cant remove it until I remove the masking. I will post the completed painting tomorrow night. thanks for watching, much appreciated.

I am really tired tonight, think that the High from the cortisone suddenly wore off, darn, I was getting so much done. Still have no idea what the other paper is, no marks on it at all.

Re: Wip Aceo Ruths Dandelions

FINALLY FINISHED I managed to find a little time while doing a bit of laundry tonight to finish this. I got it a little too blue through the dandelion puffs and the puffs didn't turn out as puffy as Ruths but I am not too displeased with it. Maybe after a few more tries I will get it where I want it. C&C appreciated and welcomed. Thank you for looking.
