Re: Moretti rod color names + rod numbers + beads to see
This is a great idea. I would like having it one step further which I know would bring more groans. I want to know which color is the base. Could that be listed first? I want my recipes to be like the list of ingredients on a package. The largest amount is first, the next largest amount is second, until you reach the smallest amount. It would make it easier to analyze the beads to try for the same reactions. I know, we each want to use the colors in our own way using our creativity instead of copying exactly, but some of you are so good at mixing the colors as you work that it is difficult to find the color specified in the bead itself. Since I am trying to find colors that work for me, instead of beads that look like mud, or simply being really ugly color combinations, it helps to have some idea of how much of a color was used. For instance, your base bead will use more of it's color than a few dots made from thin stringer. This is just an idea that I had as I looked at all the beads and tried to figure out how the various colors were used to create the beads.

Re: Moretti rod color names + rod numbers + beads to see
That IS a good idea but many times I put all 3 color rods as a base to see how the rods "work" together. Since most of the beads only use 3 colors, I suggest trying all 3 as a base and see what the cooled bead looks like. I just love mixing rods to see what will turn out because I never know. Under that much heat the colors are not what I think they will look like. Also, you get to make 3 beads instead of 1 - you know PPP...lol. I hope that my thread will encourage all of us to think out of the box and grow as we become better and better in our craft - wow, that was a deep thought for me...lol!!!

This is my favorite bead...
the base is 264 ivory--it is covered in silver foil, and melted in...the dots are 219 Pastel Copper Green, topped with 004 Transparent Clear . The dots around the edge are made with Val Cox's Silver Luster reduction nuggets pulled into stringer (they got a little over melted ).

Thank you, Rich! I have been practicing a lot lately. Seeing dots in my sleep! I thought it was neat that the copper green turned a little purpleish when I encased it in clear...I didn't know it would do that...I love that it did.
