Nice color.

I am not sure it works, at least it doesn't work fully for me. It still looks like an underpainting. It lacks a certain lusciousness that makes one want to walk up and touch it.

It is one of the odd things about color field and minimal work that if 20 people paint 20 canvases the exact same blue only one or two of the resulting 400 works will have that je ne sais quois. In this 'contest' I am certain Rothko and Kelly would succeed disproportionately more often than the others but an eight year old child would still have at fair shot a success.

Thanks

Thanks for all the compliments.

You know I could not agree with you more! I was trying out a new color and it was amazing how vivid it turned out to be. Suprisingly enough I was trying to recreate a Rothko painting at the time. You are very correct. You can only appreciate the greatness of the masters when you try to execute what they did. Thanks for the honest critique.

Thanks Shivani,

Actually the picture does not do justice to the actual color. I look at it and get lost in it too!

I like the spatial suggestions and emotive power of the ochre-yellow colour, it is very communicative. Something to consider would be to make the surface more palpitant and soft edged. I like the idea of the surface as a simple assertive field rather than a composition.

I like it. My eyes are kept busy because they keep wanting to see -something-... I can *almost* see it...
Lovely composition.
