Outside the Lines: 5th - 11th June
Hi folks - did you see how many pages and posts we had in last week's OTL? 150 posts and over 1400 viewings. This is getting to be a really busy forum!
So - this is the week when you show us what you drive or ride. Car / pick-up truck / bus / motorbike / bicycle / boat / horse / roller blades / whatever! Just post a photo of your current steed and tell us how much you love or hate it and how much you use it and anything else you want to tell us about that takes your fancy (that annoying little cluncking noise; how many breakdowns; the silliest thing you've ever carried in it etc)
Anybody wishing to enlighten us as to their vehicle of choice - please feel free. Personally I can't wait to see a heavily pregnant Maggie in her spandex catsuit standing next to the car of her dreams as described in last week's OTL - what was that Maggie? Did I hear you say "Dream on!!!" ?
I'm getting my camera out very shortly to go and get a photo of what I drive - all nicely spruced up from its valeting job following its service last week. I had my fingers scrossed that the weather might be better this morning but no such luck - still cloudy and not that warm (although it's not that cold either ). Can we have summer back please?

Re: Outside the Lines: 5th - 11th June
Okay, I was bad and did mine last week.
Here it is again, if anyone is interested.
It's a convertible truck. Fun to drive! I didn't buy it, my son bought it, but then moved to the City and didn't need it, so I took it over and just love it. I want to restore it maybe next year, it needs a paint job and the interior is faded. Since they didn't make more than a few thousand of these trucks, might be worthwhile $$$ wise, but at any rate, I enjoy driving it and drive it into Philadelphia every work day!!

Not bad Robin - just a tad premature! Or so in love with your vehicle you just had to get its piccie out!!!
So what have you had in the back - does it really get used? And what do you do if you've got more than one passenger?

If I have more than one passenger I take the other son's car.
Yeah, the back gets used quite a bit. Groceries, garden stuff, we moved the entire old house over here one trip at a time in it, camping, also son's paintings get moved around in the back.

Re: Outside the Lines: 5th - 11th June
Well Katherine when are you going to post your car thread? I will have to get mine washed. It matches my Harley its seafoam green. My toys for old age.
I went to my local CPSA meeting, what a fun thing to do. They had a guest artist Pat Spencer who gave hands on lecture on how to do animals. Dogs mostly it was very nice and informative.
Weezy they talked about having a group meeting with the San Diego chapter, I think it sounds fun, do you belong?
I gave out cards and spoke about my class that I am starting and got loads of response. Will wait and see what comes of it.
Recieved free pencils, all the new colors Polychromo is marketing. I assume that they send them to the clubs for us to try. I love it when I get new pencils. Speaking of new pencils I just got a set of Rembrant polycolor oil based pencils. I wanted to see how they work. Some of the ladys at the meeting where using them and seemed to love them. I saw what pencil collectors these people are, there as bad as me. I just have to have tons of pencils even if I dont use half the colors in them. Are you guys like that?
perhaps I should start a thread.
I had the electric guys here to rewire the dinning room. WHAT a mess. Painter comes monday, more mess I hate mess. My question is why don't these guys clean up after them selfs. Oh well I want pretty clean walls so I will have to go hide in my art room and pretend there is no mess going on out side those walls.

Re: Outside the Lines: 5th - 11th June

For those who don't know what this peculiar shaped car is, it's my Citroen Picasso. Thought I'd give you a close-up of the signature!
Did I buy this car because it was called after an artist I hear you ask? No, I bought it because pre-meds I was finding it increasingly difficult to get in and out of an ordinary saloon (literally) - and this one is so simple to get in and out of it's a dream - even my arthritic mother raves about it. And it's also got phenomenal boot space since I can remove all three seats in the back. So every now and again it does major removal duty and we keep getting more and more ambitious as to what will go in. Last time it was a six foot standard lamp in its box.
It's lovely and wide as well which makes travelling in an ordinary car seem very cramped now - I can pop 3 adults in the back with no problem. However, the penalty for that is I have forgotton on occasion just how wide and it's currently sporting the mark of an encounter with a rubber bumper on its side.
Let's see those Harleys!

Re: Outside the Lines: 5th - 11th June
Wow Katherine, I never noticed the post count of last weeks OTL thread, that's cool I hope to have more chances to post around here this week.
Robin, that's a neat truck - though I can't imagine driving around in a convertable here where we are, we need the air-conditioning blowing in our faces full ball all summer long!
Rosa, sounds like you had fun! So, what new Polychromo colors do you have?
Katherine, love your car... same color as mine and similar shape It's great, you don't see the rainspots so much on this color!
OK, so, do ya'll remember when I posted about the Texas Ranger's game we went to at the end of April? I showed some photo's in the following OTL thread, where a couple of ya'll proceeded to cheer on the Red Sox and not let me have my moment!!! (hehe ) Oh, here, let me remind you... OTL First week in May Well, bet ya'll would have been nicer and let me have my moment if you'd known while I was posting I had a huge headache and - if you'd known what happened to us on the way home from that game!
That's not a great photo, it was really dark out there, the bumper got the brunt of the hit, though for the impact, we thought our car did pretty well.
It took us about 35 minutes to get out of the parking lot after the game, we had been on the highway for less than 5 minutes, traffic was flowing nicely when right outside of 6 Flags (amusement park) the traffic stopped suddenly. We breaked (hubby was driving) but also had to swerve over into the shoulder lane to avoid hitting the car in front of us, then about 5 seconds later... WHAM! A guy hit into the back of us (was his second accident that day). I also took pictures of his car, though I guess I shouldn't post them here. His looked way worse, his lights were hanging out - pityfull!
So, we're in the process of a settlement with his insurance, I hit my head hard against the headrest and had to go to the doctor a couple of times, got a mild concussion and had headaches for weeks afterwards.
We just got our Van back from the collision center - it looks better now, new bumper marred by rain spots from a lovely storm I rode through this week.
Well, enough about the back of it, here's side view of my Chrysler Voyager
Hey, since we're at it, want to see the front? (LOL, American's are rolling their eyes... you see them all the time right?)
Well, this is my ride, hubby drives a pick-up truck. I'm a stay-at-home (homeschooling) Mom so you can guess that the most interesting thing that goes in the trunk (boot) is groceries! We go on field trips all the time, last week we went to the Arboretum and this week we're going to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing Western Currency Facility in Fort Worth. Should be fun to see how money is made
OK, you can wake up now

Ok here's my car. It's a Hyundai Sonata. I love it because it looks like a Jag, drives like a mercedes, and it cost next to nothing.

So glad you got your car fixed Liesl!
Oh some fun (....and practical) cars here. It's just as much fun to see all your driveways, as it is your cars, lol!
A nothing fancy, snow tolerant Subaru station wagon for me...but I love it. (photo a few months old)

Re: Outside the Lines: 5th - 11th June
Well, here I am. Back from the show. I take some comfort it the fact that no one sold anything there -- we were all universally annoyed at the cheap, zuccini-buying lot of Fredericksburgians (there was a farmer's market nearby that was doing quite well.)
So, here are some pics. First of all, my set up. Simple.
Second, the closest you'll ever see me to wearing spandex in my current state. It is desperately hot in this picture (think 85 and realllllly muggy).
Third, me, happy at my work. With my work in progress that I was using that amuse the natives.
Anyway, I thought I should also let you guys that I am probably going to be disappearing abruptly soon to have a baby. I am having some of the more disgusting warning signs of imminent baby-having which you previous moms probably know about. Anyway, I'm guessing 24-48 hours, unless I'm dreadfully wrong.
So, we'll see, won't we?
Weezy, I'm glad to hear you survived your bee swarm . . .my sister stepped on a hive once and, well . . . it wasn't pleasant.

Good luck Maggie - fingers and toes are crossed. You know, it's all psychological. Baby can't come before art show, art show over, baby can come. If we're not oohing and ahhing before the week's out - we'll all be pretty surprised!

Maggie, I'll be thinking and praying for you. Fast, easy labor and a perfectly healthy baby and quick recovery.
Your set up looks super, sorry about the sales. I think these things are hit and miss, you have to do a bunch of them to figure out which ones are worthwhile.

Re: Outside the Lines: 5th - 11th June
Went to an Western Days Festivities today and spoke with several artists there showing. That not one of them had sold anything all weekend was a real surprise to me. The work was good to polished professional. The people were hanging onto their wallets. Not one artist had sold a print or a painting and this is the other coast for pete's sake! Several of them said that there just were some venues where things sold and some not. It was pretty timely for Maggie I suppose to hear this and report it. Artists are not selling here this weekend either. So take heart, it must be the planets or something.
Took some great costume pictures, and was corrected rather pointedly by an elderly lady (looking more scandinavian than Indian,) that it was 'regalia' and not a costume. Cheesh. I tried to be nice and asked permission before just snapping away. She was a bit testy, this lady was. But y'all would have been proud of me, bit my tongue and was polite. (Darn, it killed me) My friend Glenda was there and she grabbed for my wrist....I think she intended to wring it, if not my throat, if I hadn't been nice and instead was true to my nature. But I was good.
My car is filthy. I will not post it till later. I am hoping for rain. Then I won't have to paint either. All I got done was one strip of three sections of the patio. And it's growing , I swear! They multiply when I'm not looking!
Thanks for the good comment Maggie. I couldn't believe we were smack in the middle of that swarm and neither of us got stung once. Bees usually hunt me down. Maybe cause I was encased in riding leathers they couldn't tell it was me? Funny cause even the bike noise, which is considerable, didn't phase them. Thank God.
So when are we gonna toast to L'il Will?
