WDE 5/28 Fruit WIP
Hi Everyone
This is exactly 2 hours, but still have much more to do. It's oil on canvas board 12x18. More challenging than I anticipated and I feel a little in over my head. Oil paints can be very humbling. Have to wait until some of it dries to get the highlight and work on the reflections more. Getting a little muddy right now. C&C welcome!
I've got to run out, but be back later to check on everyone else's.
THanks for the great ref. photos, Lorna!

The blue cast to this is very soothing. Good draftmanship, good colors.

Re: WDE 5/28 Fruit WIP
Thanks Helen and Connie! I was afraid I was starting to make mud but I'm glad it's reading like fruit! I'll post more later when it dries a bit.

Yes, but your result is not humble in the least! And I don't see any mud, just a lovely moody still life. I'll check back later to see the finish.

Mary,
I like the direction this one is heading in. Very loose and painterly.

This is going to be excellent, Mary! I love how you've handled the background...it's much more interesting and painterly than my version. The colors are wonderful in the whole thing!

Re: WDE 5/28 Fruit WIP
I'm still working on this (it's taking longer than I expected) but here's the latest. I hope I've not killed the original painterly, spontaneous feel. I switched to smaller brushes to work on the pomegranate and tightened up a bit, I think. Still have work to do on the plate, background, and grapes. Any helpful suggestions?
Mary
