Impressions, please...
This is a facial study for a future drawing. I'm trying to get a certain look and would like to know what your first impression is regarding her mood, what she's thinking or feeling.....you know, that sort of thing. Thanks!

Re: Impressions, please...
Hmm, lovely Pat. What is she feeling? She looks contented yet intently observing something (or someone) and gaining a great deal of pleasure doing so.
Interesting combination.

Re: Impressions, please...
A bit of a combination between lost in thought... and not likeing what she is seeing/heard........... weighted moreso towards the first.

Re: Impressions, please...
Deep in thought about a subject that she seems separated from or set apart from... I don't get the feeling that she is personally engaging with a subject in person... more engaging in contemplation or memory. I see a hint look of sadness or worry... maybe as if her beau is overseas or she's thinking of a deceased loved one...
Hope all that makes sense...

Re: Impressions, please...
It's a little difficult to describe an emotional impression...but I'll have a go. To me this looks akin to the faces you see on people walking into or from a funeral service. There is a distant look in the eyes which give the impression of an internal struggle or preoccupation. It's very introspective.
And quite beautifully drawn.

Re: Impressions, please...
Pat, another well drawn face.
the mouth is set and the eyes are sad, the feeling I get from this is that she is determined even though not happy with a situation.

Re: Impressions, please...
I also like the timeless quality this has... she could be from the 1800's or now!

Re: Impressions, please...
Thanks for all the comments regarding her mood.....'far away in thought' was what I was aiming for, so it seems I've pretty much captured that. I'm also going to try for a timeless look for this piece, so your remark that she could be from the 1800's or now really pleases me, Bernie! Thanks!

Very nice modelling on the face, I 'd watch the back of the head it has a tendency to not be recessive enough for me.
