The Shutterbug Daily, Monday 16th May

Well monday has been here and nearly gone, the Self Portrait Challange has been illuminating (thankyou Ray), the macro flora challenge is now up (thankyou Joy), the May Project which is a scavenger hunt is away and running too (thankyou Sue). My goodness the forum is jumping.

I started to sort images to show you our inland trip however I find I must cull eveb more I think that 120 images would be classed as forum flooding doncha think.

Don't forget to go over to the comp and register your votes. It's another tough one with some great images there.

A view of our Glasshouse Mountains (named by Captain Cook) obscured by bushfire smoke.

Have a great day one and all.

Good morning Wendy, just having morning coffee break.

120 might be too many for one thread, when you’ve finished culling make them clickable like the weekly comp that way you wouldn’t upset the dial up people so much.

Haven’t voted yet, can’t make up my mine which one.

My phones being a pest this morning, I’ve been typing this for over half an hour already, where was I, oh yeh Wendy’s photo don’t you just hate bushfires, we use to have endless problems with them in SA.

I like the view; the cranes a bit distracting, I wonder why he called them “The Glasshouse Mountains” more like Pyramid Mountains.

Have to go now it's almost lunchtime.

Hi all, just popping in [ ] to say Hi.

Ron, I believe it was the morning sun reflecting off the volcanic plugs towards his ship that reminded Captain Cook of glasshouses. more info

Re: The Shutterbug Daily, Monday 16th May

Happy Monday, One and All -

Well, it took a little bit, but the entries for Photo Comp #6 are up for voting over in the Darkroom. Wander over and take a look - AND VOTE!

Busy, busy weekend. Seems that there is no time to relax lately - it's all run, run, run. I guess that's the way it has to be if I'm going to get things done. Oh well. Tonight I better cut the lawn or I'm going to need to use a machete to knock it down to size.

Sue - Scavenger hunt? OY! Let's see, where I'm going to find the time for that?

Maria - sorry to hear you were leaking - hope it's fixed - I hate when things like that happen and spoil my plans, too.

Carol - welcome home - nice to have some paying work - I bet you won't miss the sore feet this summer.

Wendy - glad the wedding went well and that you had good weather. Interesting shot of the mountains - wasn't sure what that was.

Ann - don't go disparaging us men just because we didn't post on Sunday - we were actually out DOING something.

Jim -

Ron - Good thing about phones - you can unplug them.

In the meantime - I'm back to work.

You all have a great day -

Ray

Re: The Shutterbug Daily, Monday 16th May

Evening/morning to you all. Everyone busy with work or doing things. Good.

It's Tuesday 5.45 a.m here, and oh boy it has gone so COLD. Totally overcast with strong winds yesterday ( mostly "today" for you ) and we had to be out and about in it. Took most of day just to track down a spring for broken door handle! Such a simple item, but handle is now out of production....of course! Temp just managed to get to 13 degrees, which isn't bad but the wind made it seem colder.

The streets looked so different to last week, with most of the beautiful leaves blown hither and thither. What a difference the sunshine makes to our lives and after so many days of constantly lovely autumn weather, this has come as a bit of a shock. So glad we made the most of every day and went out for drives around district.

I am sitting here with first cuppa of the day, and can hear the wind whistling round the house, and rain pattering on the windows. Thankful that we now have this smaller home, which is so easy to heat with cosy gas heater (with flue fitted to make sure there's no fumes). Gives off such a nice glow AND we don't have to chop and cart in wood, much as we love a nice open fire.

Smaller home is fine...am getting adjusted to it, but really miss the bigger garden, and all the lovely flowers I had growing. Being factual, it sure was hard work keeping it in good order, even with help. We look at the photos of it, and think "Good grief....how the heck did we do all that!!".

I'm sure most of us could do a small book of "Gardens we have loved". Am happy we had that last big one to think back on.

Just peeped out through blinds....not a glimmer of light in sky and c-c-c-c-o-o-o-old. Hmmmm....going back to bed for another hour

Re: The Shutterbug Daily, Monday 16th May

happy monday everyone. Hope you all had a grand weekend. I spent Friday and Saturday with my grands having a grand time.
yesterday me and hubby and the kid drove to Pardee Dam with photography in mind. Gorgeous scenery. Once there discovered I had forgot to put my memory cards back in the bag. Oops. We had a lovely day anyway.
Today is the only day this week that I do not have a doctors appt. Yippee!! I just love getting poked and prodded. The good news is my blood work last week was all normal. Which means I'll live till next weeks poking. A bit of life advice. One should never seek to become personally aquainted with the lab techs at the hospital. If they all know your name, you are spending way to much time with them.
Off to accomplish this or that. Haven't decided which yet.

Re: The Shutterbug Daily, Monday 16th May

Hi Everyone, Monday is almost over here. Hope it was a good one for you all.

Only 120 photos, Wendy? Rob gets through that many in an hour. Glad you and TB had a good trip. Interesting view of the mountains through the bushfire - hope that doesn't cause too many problems.

I'm with you Ray - can't make my mind up which to vote for yet. This weeks entries will really take some studying.

Don't work too hard Ray - you'll tire yourself out before playtime.

Beautiful picture of your garden Ann. They are a lot of work though. Ours is only a pocket handkerchielf but we usually have a good show of flowers.

Careful Shirl - dosn't do to go admitting to too many senior moments. Delighted to hear that things are still coming back normal. Let's keep it that way.

We've had a great weekend down in Birmingham. The weather was beautiful and we had an absolutely super day out in Stratford yesterday. Pics as soon as we have time to upload and sort. The weather spoilt itself on the way back up - we're back to cold and drizzle.

Catch up with you all tomorrow.
