Happy Hour

Hi all,

I sold a smaller version of this painting last week. I missed it so much
that I decided to do another one (a little bigger this time 16 x 20).
Your comments/advise/input very much appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Re: Happy Hour

Wonderfully moody. I didn't notice the bottle straight away. Neat effect with that.

Re: Happy Hour

Excellent atmosphere, looks like he lost a business deal or something. The dark moody atmosphere really reflects his mood doesn't it. The only thing I can see that looks a bit off kilter is the collar on his left, shouldn't it be more in shadow/greyer? Still, I like it very much.

Thumbs up Re: Happy Hour

Hi Manooch .... I like this painting very much ... Is it Humphrey Boulgart? If not it does remind me of him in Casablanca. I think you have done a wonderful job on this... I also checked out your website.... You have some extremely nice work going on ...How long have you been painting and are you self taught or did you take classes? You are a very talented artist.

Re: Happy Hour

Thank you all for looking and commenting.

suegercag - you are right about the light and shadows being off. I tend
to go a bit overboard when I start highlighting. I need to learn to step
back more and look before adding more highlights. Thank you for bringing
that up.

praiseHisname40 - Not sure who this is. I found the ref picture on the
web and changed it around a bit. I've been drawing now for about
4 years (started in mid 40's). mainly learned by reading art books and
wonderful comments on wetcanvas. I started painting with acrylics
the begining of this year (about 4 months) - got a very long way to go.
Thank you for checking out my web page and your kind words.
