Tribal wings with cross
This was a chalanging piece. Some artist say that tribal is harder.
I don't see all black as more difficult. But this one did pose some challenges.
You cant see it but ther is a lot of shadow work and what ever one side had to be the other had to match exactly.
Hear of course the photo is not representing the work well. I might have found out today what is wrong. I think I might have been using the wrong film speed.
Oh well so hear it is anyway
Ok so I had to cut into three pieces I hope this works
Its hard to see the flow of the lines so I added another pic of the center section.
I hope this makes sense

Re: Tribal wings with cross
This is an interesting composition. It has a good feel to it for me. The use of color is very effective and gives the piece more dimension. I love the shading.

Re: Tribal wings with cross
Thanks, for the kind words
I was concerned as to the use of the primal colors. As allways I can see every minor inperfection in my art.
I wonder does one ever get over that?

Re: Tribal wings with cross
I LOVE the colour in that, it gives it a more Celtic look to it (for me anyways).
There`s a Welsh artist, "Courtney Davis", who does beautiful Celtic art. They would make wonderful tatoo`s.
No, I don`t think artists ever get over that "finding small faults" with their own work . I was told once, that when you do an artpiece that your 100% happy with...your artistic career is over.
I was also told, that your LAST work is not your best..the NEXT one is

Re: Tribal wings with cross
Thank you Brian.
The wings were ment to be celtic. I tried to bring out the over under pattern.
I have spent the last two weeks working on a arm band. It is supposed to be an Irish Colado. I hope I spelled that correctly
Ok so it seems tobe normal to fuss over the small issues that come up

I'll second that... I heard someone here say we are our worst critics. That's a fact. And it should be like that. That way we keep pushing ourselves to get better. I really like your tattoos..

Re: Tribal wings with cross
The layout looks good. I like the colors. I can see some of the shading and it looks good as well. Symmetry is very good as well. Cant see anything wrong with it at all.
ya know, I don't think you do every get over that.

Re: Tribal wings with cross
Hello TatooGirl - some line work has a "sweetness" or "rightness" to it. This piece is almost musical to me. Precise yet fluid, very clean, and the flow of forms is so clear - it all works very well. You challenged yourself with the colour I think and that works too Thanks for the post.

Re: Tribal wings with cross
Hi again Karen, forgot to give you a link to Courtney Davis work, it`s
http://www.angelfire.com/art2/faerie...tneyDavis.html
Hope that you find some good stuff that you can use, I`m sure that you will
If you type in his name, there are a number of sites about him. I didn`t know this before,I only knew of him because I have one of his books. He only does Celtic type art, as far as I know.
Cheers, brian

Just went looking at his work on line, and found a site that`s devoted entirely to his tatoo designs, which might suit you better, it`s
