Smile Laundry Day Painting

Here is another recent painting I did for our line, it is called laundry day. I did this on an 8 x 10 canvas board. The prints made will be sold at our shows in a primitive wooden frame which has been "beat up a bit" and sanded a bit on the edges. Seems the people that really like this look of the salt boxes are mostly in the east. This one was also licensed to Apenglow Art who will be selling lithographs at all the major market shows, wish me luck, please. Let me know what you think and any suggestions for future work.
Pat

Very nice Pat. For some reason though I almost expect to see some grazing horses in there somewhere!
I should think that this will do very good for you.

Thanks for the input Tammy, I was going to put some sheep in the fenced area......but....if you saw my line you would understand I sort of over did the sheep thing. These types of homes had sheep on the lawns eating their grass...I'll have to inquire where was the barn or stables to keep the horses...maybe a pasture. Can you tell I was raised smack dab in the middle of a major city...LOL

Hi Pat & Tammy,

This is great! Love the trees and the primitive look. I can see this on the walls of a colonial home. Do you do murals?

Yes, you are right, very Grandma Moses.I take that as a compliment. I have long been a fan of Rufus Porter...anyone know of him? I love the almost child like images that the folk artists of old painted. It seemed to be a much simpler time that existed for them that I am now trying to recreate. Leesmith, the only murals I have ever attempted are or was in our homes we have lived in. I currently do not have one in this home but plan some wall scenes in a bathroom.

Hi Pat,

Yes! Yes! That's exactly who I had in mind when I mentioned walls of a colonial home...his name escaped me... is there another muralist like Tom Rose or something like that also? I have an article on Rufus Porter clipped from some magazine. I recall his trees were rather unique. I keep a file with clippings of articles about artists that interest me. Do you know a lot about him? I would be glad to mail the article to you, if you like.

Leesmith,
I would love any info on Rufus Porter, yes his trees were highly unusual. I sell my painting mostly in the east, that's where most buyers seem to be coming from. And I suppose the reason for that is for the restoration and such of these old buildings. We travel Pa. a lot and I see these salt box and other historic homes. Also love the Amish influence in that area. I just completed a 10 x 10 painting with the Amish farm scene, quilts, buggies, hex signs on barns....the whole nine yards..

Hey Pat,

I will try and find time this week end to fish out my files. Once I lay hands on the Rufus Porter stuff, I'll email you for an address. Will include anything else I may find that relates as well.

Lee
