to be or not to be....

this forum is where i felt comfortable asking this question:

do i change her obvious imperfections and try to "fix" her...or let her alone to be what she is...

there's something i find satisfying about her.. and then i wrestle down the part of my personality that tells me she is not 'accurate'..

opinions?

might be all you'd need is a highlight on this side of the nose...

she's very solid looking just as she is. I could see why you wouldn't want to ruin her, she has her own personality for sure.

Maybe you could do it digitally first...

Shadoe,
Well, this is the Ab/Con forum, but since this is where you feel most comfortable asking the question--welcome. Having a realistic background, but having gone the Abstract route, I find her very nice "as is." Rarely, do you get perfection unless you are into "photo realism." This is too good as is--I'd leave it alone.

However, you would probably get a different answer in the "Classical" or "Portraiture" forums.

Re: to be or not to be....

In 'real life' ... there's a definite 'attitude' from her.. and i guess that's what i don't want to touch. I've been told she needs a nose job... all sorts of things..

and yet.. i feel like she's funky in her imperfection

i'm positive in portraiture or classical she'd be turfed, and yet.. maybe sometimes imperfect IS perfect????

thanks for the feedback!

if you feel that way, you shouldn't touch it. I have paintings of mine that others say should be different, but I've never changed them. I like them as they were born .

yep.. that's the spot i'm wrestling with.... if i slim the nose it might make sense that this much of her right eye is showing... or i could 'maybe' increase the right side of her cheek ... OR take out more of the right side, which would force that side of her face back a bit into the darkness...

... and then i could just leave her alone, and allow her to be forever more just a teeny bit 'disturbing'

have i mentioned that making decisions is not one of my strengths????
