The magic flute

Here's a flute I made yesterday in Sally prasch's class at the Worcester Craft Center... isn't it cool????
And yes, it does work.... has a glassy recorder kind of sound..
unfortunately I think the measurements between the holes and stuff have to be perfect to get any kind of standard key scale to it,
but I love them anyway.
I've been thinking of doing a series of highly decorative ones for xmas presents... so, watcha think?

What do I think? I think I wanna be on your Christmas list! Who do I have to rub out to get on there? That is just the coolest thing I have seen all week!

I have such an urge to do blown glass.

Wow Jennifder, I can see the Cobra dancing out of the basket now. It is a beautiful flute and I'd be real happy if Santa dropped one down my chimney. If an elf stayed and played it for me..even better. Nice work! Gail

Thanks
It really is a "tubework 101" item... very simple to make.
I think we made them as a fun way to learn to blow a hole in the side of tube basically.
If you saw it done, you'd hit yourself on the forehead and say" Geez! I could make that in a minute!!" (or something to that effect..lol)

H.R. Puffinstuff!! LOLOLOL

Hey Jennifer, I'll also say that this is the coolest thing I've seen in awhile. I would have never thought of something like this. So, let me ask...do you first close off one end. Then spot heat where you want the holes. Blowing through the open end which will make a little hole?

Jennifer,

Okay, I hate to use this word again, but WOW! That is beautiful. I think that anyone would like to get one of those as a gift. I certainly would.

Will you share some of the others you do with us? I wanna see more!!

Kristi

Jennifer, it's lovely! It may be simple to make, but I'd be willing to bet, if you decorate it, it would sell.

You may call it simple but I call it Amazing! Even without any decoration. Funny, but when I was reading your first post, I must not have read it right and thought it would be like a champagne flute. You floored me when I saw what you were really talking about. WOW!!!

Oh my!!! That's something else!!! I think it would look nice highly decorated, but I do like the "minimalistic" look also
