Re: Ball dancing !

I'll dance with you ANYWHERE, Linda!!!

Yes, I can feel her vibration!!! Beautiful and vibrant!! Like an Orchestra of light during the Grand March of the Ball!!!

One nit: the blue seems a bit much and disturbing to me; but prolly cause I like it warm when dancing. I'm shocked there's not more yellow!!

The crop/balance are fantastico!!

Re: Ball dancing !

Feel it? For some quite illogical reason it does bring a smile to my face. The saturated blues seem to come forward a bit. Was that intentional, or do they look different on a Mac, something like that.

Hey did Linda paint this Tam? With that blue you could be right. It's Linda's palette.

Well, this is a heck of a nice painting. The background throws me away. I like it.

I think it really work well because of the good composition..

Re: Ball dancing !

YOU GUYS ARE TOOOOOO MUCH !!!

I guess I cannot post anonymous anymore. It's just that these tulips seemed different to the others. Thank you, merci for your great comments.
I'm happy you like the blue because I do to, a lot.

Tamana, thanks for your nice words. I'm happy you can feel the vibration.

Daniel, you don't comment on flowers. Pourquoi ? Elles ont de la personnalité aussi, tu sais ! Merci pour tout. T'es ben fin.

It is really entitled "Soirée de bal" but didn't want to post it in French because of the anonymous thing. (really didn't make any difference, thou) When you look at them upside down, they look like evening dresses.

Mikey, where were you? missed you. Happy I made you smile.

Katelyn, alors tu parles le joual ??? Great description, thank you. Made me feel really happy (again)

Merci Lisa; always great to hear from you.

So I guess I'll stop here. Too much bla bla. But did I ever tell you I was a HAPPY person, ............. most of the time.

Take care you all !

Re: Ball dancing !

Your colors are beautiful and tell on you.
You still are not showing any atmosphere or distance as all your flowers are of the same color and values. If you don't want to show distance and atmosphere then ignore me but I think it would open up the flowers more and not act so much like a wall. you don't necessarily need those features if you want to show things as color only so it's not a necessity.

Once again Wayne, you have read my mind (What is it they say about great minds?). While perhaps not a necessity, the composition would be stronger if there was something to create the illusion of depth.

Re: Ball dancing !

Thank you Wayne, you know I always appreciate your critiques. I'll have to think about what you said. This morning, I was working on another tulip painting and putting in more depth but don't like it as much. I might not be doing the colours right.

Thank you also to GG and Tracysart. Appreciate your kind words.

What do they say about great minds, Andrew: If I knew you better I would add something but.........just teasing! Thank you so much for looking and saying.

Linda

It is a bit of a balancing act. sometimes it works by just graying them off with the compliment, sometimes not. Other times you need think a bit more monochomatically, and look at it as a puzzle of values. If your other tulip painting is anything like this one, you are dealing with a limited space. Which, unlike a landscape, the loss of percepted color is far more subtle. Rather than greying off or blueing off the distant colors and muting values, think in terms of fewer values. As the flowers recede away, you percieve fewer values, making them appear flatter and less defined (not sure if I am explaining this well or not). For example, say the foremost flower, and focal point has 5 values, then the supporting bouquet would have maybe only 3 values, and the ones way in the back possibly only 1 or 2 values.
