I like your choice for background, it's setting the tone for the rest of the painting.

Glad you are doing another still life. I always enjoy progress pictures of paintings that others are doing.

Hi llis

Thank you! Most often when I do a plain background still life I use the main color and it's compliment. In this case I used green and red-purple in varing tints.
I'll post the image again when I get near completion.

Best,
Kathy

So far, so good. Watch that the red fruit on the left sits on the table and doesn't want to roll off(towards the left). Also, make sure that the background doesn't 'overwhelm' the delicate leaves.

Lovely picture Kathy

Thanks for information on background. I'll keep that in mind next time I paint. Your background colors always have a calming effect on me.

Best,

Mim

Oh dear, almost forgot - love the foreground too.

Hi mim:

What a lovely comment Thank YOU! I love color and I'm always challenged to make it work together in a painting. I don't claim to know everything about color and painting; but if I can help you with any questions I'd be happy too.

I still have some issues I'm trying to work out with this painting, and have received some good suggestions. Right now I'm doing some re-drawing on the dry areas with white chalk, and all I have to do is wipe it off with a little water if I don't like what I see. Chalk 101 ha ha...

Best,
Kathy
