Non-adjustable Propane Regulaltors

I finally got my Minor set up again; its like starting all over! But that's a whole 'nother topic....I'm using an oxygen concentrator, which I love, and propane. Once my house is repaired and I move back in (probably 6 months) I plan to use natural gas as fuel, so in an effort to be economical (read "cheap") I purchased a non-adjustable propane valve from Arrowsprings. It seems to be working well, no fuel surges, constant steady supply, but its going to take some experimenting to get the ideal neutral flame under these conditions, especially since I only used it a couple of times with propane and an oxygen tank.. Does anyone else use this type regulator? Should the valve on the propane tank be opened all the way or only 2-3 turns? I've got the oxycon set at 3 LPM with this setup; would 4.5 LPM be better?

Thanks for any input; it sure is good to be torching again!

Allen

Hi Allen! Have you been making any new beads? Can you show them if so?

Re: Non-adjustable Propane Regulaltors

Are you talking about a pancake regulator, the kind that is on propane gas grill tanks?

If so, I have read about many people using this type of regulator with the minor quite successfully.

Open the propane tank all the way, the regulator is going to adjust the gas pressure. I like to open my tank valve all the way so if there is an emergency, and in the excitement of a hurried shut-down, the valve will ONLY turn one way - closed.

Experiment a bit with your O2 pressure and see what works best.

Glad to hear you are getting your home back in order!
