this is fascinating Tuatara. So much to look at and ponder!
Could you tell us something more about it? What medium - your ideas when painting perhaps???
Thanks for showing us your work - keep them coming!
btw welcome to wetc! (I welcomed you in Rod's Friday's Flowers thread in the cafe forum too)

Hi Lulu.

Thanks for the warm welcome in both boards. This is an acrylic on stretched canvas work. It is a scan of a photo that was very hard to take as there is a high shine on the paint so that accounts for the darkness but it is one of my favourites so thought I would start with something familiar.

There are a lot of details which are lost in the processing but the tree in the centre is a tree of souls full of faces which are not visible and the creatures in the foreground along with the ship with lateen sail are not easy to see either. It is like a lot of my work people in the world with animals and elementals hopefully in balance and harmony. Glad it turned up as an image.

Regards tuatara

Hi cagathoc,

Appreciate your comments.

Yes definately an icon of sorts. Size is a little larger that most icons 800mm x 600mm. Have tried for a jewel like surface to the work so that it has an otherworld feel.

He is the universal gardener digging away cycles come and go and if he has a bad day things may get uprooted, or the watering can might come out.

Just my way of telling myths legends and stories that come in to my mind from various sources - get scrambled - interpretted - and come out as paintings.

Kind regards, tuatara

Greetings Wendee,

Thanks for the welcome.

I know the image is not good, I have now found out how to lighten them up so the next ones will be better. Have a daughter who lives in your city. wonderful Gallery of NSW I love it.

Glad you posted the lighter version............ i have copied it and blown it up a little to take a closer look

The colour is so rich, the textures so interesting and the 'gardener' so benevolent.

I love it

Looking forward to more postings. No need to be shy !!!!

jaytee - I'm a little overwhelmed So glad you liked it Thankyou

LornaM - this is one of those paintings when I get enamoured by a very small brush and just get lost in the detailing that we all love to do. Thanks so much for your comments

Tammy - Nice to meet you thank you for the welcome and positive remarks.

tatura...

WONDERFUL. i am reminded of a beautiful tarot deck called, the verticle oracle. same mythilogical feeling.

ONLY...your image blows the deck away. love the gardener metaphor.

keep posting...and welcome to WC!
