New Inks - Hibiscus Painting started

Hi everyone,
I am trialing the new Matisse Derivan inks. I have only used the green & the red. They are very strongly pigmented & lush colours.

This is only step 1 of the painting (AND only part of the painting - as it's all I can fit on the scanner - it's on a half sheet of w/colour paper & has 5 hibiscus).

I have thrown the inks onto wet paper, and negative painted the flowers with acrylics. Tomorrow I will drip white ink down the whole thing, then negative paint the flowers again. Then I will finish off with coloured pencil.

Wow, this sounds interesting Wendy and it already looks great. I will have to stay tuned to see how this turns out. Now what type of paper is it on?

Ciao.....Dianna

It's on Arches rough.
I have learnt this technique in a workshop 3 years ago & this is my first time to do it again. It 'should' look like viewing the flowers through a rainy window when I've finished.

Re: New Inks - Hibiscus Painting started

Well I THINK it is finished. I have dripped the white ink down it, redone some but not all of the negative painting. Then I have done some coloured pencil (watercolour pencil). The veins on the petals I have drawn in lightly in some areas & then rubbed out.

But I may be fiddling with it for days.

I am going to do the same technique with yellow and blue inks and yellow allemanda flowers for the tsunami auction. Allemanda reminds me of Indonesia and with the underwater/through the rain effect, it seems appropriate. I've already put the ink on the paper. EnTIREly different to this one at that stage.
