Post Charcoal portrait from memory..

Neither model nor photo for this one, it is done of a friend from memory and intuition, also I was trying to bring out his self-image/dream-self, so a model or photo probably would have distracted from that anyway...

Soft vine charcoal stick on 65lb sketchbook paper

8 1/4" by 12"

thumbnail for overall view:

Feedback? Impressions? Critiques?

Thanks!

I think you captured a dreamy quality in this portrait. It has just enough detail. I think the arm may be a little wide, but it doesn't detract from the overall piece.

Ditto on the wide arm. Otherwise, a very good job.

Thanks very much for the comments. Sorry I didn't get back to respond earlier, I've been having a Very Bad Connection Week with my ISP, it's very slow when it lets me online at all! fooey.

I agree about the arm... I saw that as soon as I came back to it after sleep. I haven't tried to fix it yet, but it shouldn't be too hard, I hope...
