Escoda Roll

These are the trees I started for my Winter Tear painting.
I made another tree scene that is posted in Studio Tips Under the 'Old Wobbley got fixed' thread.
I haven't decided which one will be the underpainting for the tear. I used my #6 escoda brush and rolled the groene omber on from the tip of the large rounded bristle hair. Before I dabbed the paint on the brush, I dipped it in a little Copal. I hope it dries a little faster than the others did.
I used my bent up Holbein painting knife to make the trunks. It's a long Diamond. I had dropped that knife the first day I had it, and of course it landed right on it's tip. I think it's better that way now...adds a little character.
The Summer tear is posted in the abstract forum, it has nothing for the under painting. The Fall Tear has a few leaves that smeared a little when I applied the Blues. I had attempted a golden fish in the Spring Tear, it was smeared out, leaving only some golden hints.

Re: Escoda Roll

Here's a larger tree painting, using the same roll method, with the Escoda Sash Brush #6, only I pulled a bit of color down after rolling it on.
I decided to keep track of the process this time.
I probably should have already worked in a background for this larger tree painting, it's not going to be used for an underpainting....or is it....
