MidAtlantic Plein Air Society

I know some of you were looking for this link. Don't know if you finally found it, but if not, here it is:
http://www.midatlanticpleinairpainters.org

I have been busy in the oil forum with figurative work, but I see you are all painting away plein air. I miss you guys. I'll return when the paintings are done.

NYPAPS is growing slowly but surely. The announcements will come out soon in the art league newsletters on Long Island and Gavin and Ted are busy marketing the NYC and Upstate chapters.

I like the real simple layout of this group's site too, Renee, which gives me ideas.

It might prove easier for me to put a fire under a few artists here in the Midwest to get such a group together.

Since I can get a website hosted for about $10 per month, I could intially request an annual member's fee of $10 roughly, and use that to pay for our internet hosting. Or something or other to that affect. Wonder if Scott here would host such a group online for that matter?

Larry

Here's my two cents...I live in Mystic, Connecticut, am fairly new to the area and just getting established. I would love to be part of a plein air group if anyone knows of anything in my area please let me know.

For Deb

This following link is to a site of an artist that says he is the current president of the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society. Perhaps you can write to him.

CPAPS

And this site which appears to be the same folks, only it lists events and photos of paintouts.

Plein Air Duo

I could not find a website for the group however.

Check with the North Shore Art Association. NSAA

A trip to Gloucester or Rockport should prove enlightening. They would likely know of painters or groups nearer to you.

Plein Rein Painters

Here in Juneau, several of us have been going out painting on Saturday mornings for the past three years. You can see more at www.bcraver.com by following the link to the Plein Rein Painters.

I haven't updated the site for more than a year now, but we have developed an "identity" here. Last October eight of us (and four sisters of painters) all went to Italy, and we currently have a show at the local Art's Council gallery called: Plein Rein Travels to Italy.

Meeting at a local restaurant for our starting point gets us a few new members just by luck, and the shows have made people aware of us. We have no membership, fee or criteria - but I think if I can get a group going in a town of 30,000 in a fairly unfriendly climate - anyone can. You will meet some great people and wonderful artists!

If you are ever in Juneau, please come!

Does anyone know of a plein aire group in the northwest? I live in Montana and would really like to get together with other artists for paint outs ect. or just other artists that would like to get together to paint.

Bob

Just curious, are there any plein aire painting groups in Michigan (particularly around the Metro Detroit Area?)

Hi gang

I, too, am a member of National Academy of Professional Plein Air Painters that Larry spoke of.

A friend and I started a KOPA, Kauai Outdoor Painters Association, here in Hawaii. We have about 30 members now and paint out every third Saturday of the month, conduct evening life drawing/painting about twice per month and have an abundance of fun together. We bring outstanding artists here to conduct workshops as well. Check the schedule for the year.

Currently we are working on a Society that is statewide with a few of the best plein air painters from each of the Hawaiian Islands. We will meet on different isles and have a paint out and then exhibit on that island those works done by the society members........ Exciting....Keep painting.

Happy New Year

2004 Schedule

Ian Roberts February 12-15, 2004 $475
Ken Auster April 2-4, 2004 $425

Re: Plein Air Organizations, groups, Online sites, etc;

I've been on workshops with Ian Roberts in Provence, France, and it was wonderful! He's a great artist and warm and caring teacher, I highly recommend his workshop! I wish I could attend the February one, but I just got back from a month in Costa Rica...

UK Plein Air group

Anyone living in the North West should consider the Ormskirk Artists. Aside from monthly meetings and exhibitions in the winter, we have weekly plein air afternoons in the summer when all media are welcome.

Pm me if you are interested in joining.

Doug from Ormkskirk UK.

Re: Plein Air Organizations, groups, Online sites, etc;

We have a very active group of plein air painters in the lower Hudson Valley. We paint mostly in Westchester and Putnam counties, but have members from Connecticut and Rockland too. If any of you are in the area and would like to paint with us, send me a PM.

Jamie
