Feeling so stupid and don't know what to do
I saw a listing in the swap shop in mid September. Someone wanted to trade Paint Shop Pro software for glass. I have alot of glass and REALLY wanted and needed Paint Shop Pro. So, after going back and forth via email about ten times, we finally struck a deal on September 29th. On that day, she said that she had also been emailing someone else about trading glass, but liked my deal better, but that we need to finalize this ASAP. In that same email she was complaining about the glass shipping price, so I decided to just pay for the shipping myself and I told her that. We finalized the deal that very day. This person is new to lampworking and had no glass nor any idea how to work woth each color. I took hours and hours of my own time and labeled each and every glass rod. I also hand wrote information on each sticker on how the glass works, what it reacts with, if it needs oxy or low heat etc. etc. It took me about two full days. I ending up sending her almost all the Moretti colors, Vetrofond colors and several Lauscha colors because I honestly wanted her to experience everything. I sent everything via priority mail with delivery confirmation, all on my nickel, as I've already stated. She seemed so nice via email that I was glad to do all this for her. I like helping people. I even drove to Hobby Lobby and bought a marver to send to her because she needed one. She emailed that she would mail the software in two days.
I then sent the glass and emailed her that it was coming. She emailed back on 10/5 and said that her Volvo had broken down so she couldn't get the software in the mail but would keep me informed. On 10/9, she emailed again to say her car was fixed and she was caught up with everything...so sorry for the delay. It will be Monday before I can mail the software. She also said it was really nice of me to include the marver.
On 10/29, a full month after making the deal, I emailed her saying, "I thought we had a deal. I sent the glass. Where is the software?" She emailed back later that day and said, We had a MINOR family crisis. The software will be in the mail ASAP. Sorry to worry you. . . "
It is now 11/1 and I still have no software and I haven't heard from her. I understand family crisis stuff as well as anybody, but she did say it was minor. How hard is it to put the CD in an envelope and snail mail it to me? All there is is the CD because she said there was no manual or anything else. Wouldn't one be able to put a CD in an envelope and address it and drop it in the mailbox faster than it would take to write an email. I just can't figure out what happened. I feel like such an idiot for trusting someone like this. I went out on Friday and bought the software, because I really need it and don't want to keep getting so aggravated every time I go to our mail box.
If anyone wants this person's name, pm me or email me at:suechrist@earthlink.net. I would like to prevent anyone else from being taken like this.

Re: Feeling so stupid and don't know what to do
I Hate this has happened. And it is not the first time someone has taken advantage of the giving spirit and kind natures of our Glass members.
I hope you have alerted the mods in the Swap shop about this and given them all the information.
I know I say it often, but here it comes again, you have to be so carefully.
I'm glad you bought your own software, I believe that is always the best way to go.

Sue,
I'm so sorry this happened to you! You were so sweet and very giving, too bad that person took advantage of you. Just remember, what goes around comes around.
I would like to "know" who this person is so I will PM you next. I hope everyone wants to know, so know one else gets taken

Sue,
So sorry this happened to you. But what comes around goes around and in the end it all works out. Im sure something nice will happen for you for being such a generous person, you went through a lot of trouble to make sure she got a good deal. Hang in there, not everyone is like this.

LOL Roseanne we must have been writing at the same time and we said almost the same thing

Re: Feeling so stupid and don't know what to do
Interesting Karma we're all working on. Glad I don't have her karma to deal with. What you give will come back to you threefold. Don't beat yourself up for falling for a scam... be happy that you can look in the mirror everyday and be happy with who you are. I'll bet she can't do that. So sorry though... Pat

Re: Feeling so stupid and don't know what to do
That's such a shame that happened to you, especially after all the special time and effort it took to put everything together *and* writing down how all the colors worked with each other.. I only hope that she did truly get preoccupied and that she will eventually send the software to you (at least then you could relist it in the swap shop).
I'm always a little scared to make big trades in the ss. I can say that most of the WC!'ers are very kind, honest and generous people - but there's that 2% who seem like they're always out to scam you.
You are a good, generous soul. I agree with the others who say what goes around comes around.

Re: Feeling so stupid and don't know what to do
You are a kind and generous soul. I know someone else like that
And all I can offer is this...you did a nice thing and you didn't get what you deserved in return...but ...nice kind honest people...sooner or later will meet up with someone who will take advantage of that...so...just accept it and let it go...don't let this person change who you are or how you deal with others.
The more generous you are the more likely that you will run into someone like this but you know what...? There are far more people who you helped who know what a wonderful person you are... It really is HER problem...let her keep it... Keep your Karma Pure!
If you allow this to preoccupy your mind then you have lost something far more valuable.
I am soooooo sorry this happened to you...

Re: Feeling so stupid and don't know what to do
I now know her user name on this forum and almost all she posts are polls. Can I say her user name on the forum or not? If I can't say it, I can give a really good clue. My little daughter (16) who is reading this right now says, "Ohh, bead people are ssoooo sweet!"
Thanks guys for your support.
Should I invoice her for the glass via PayPal since I have an email address? I don't expect to get paid, but it would be fun.

Re: Feeling so stupid and don't know what to do
No Sue,
Please don't name her here, or even hint at the name. Do let the Swap shop Mods know what has happened and who it was.
Good luck,
Beth

I am so sorry that this has happened to you. There will always be people out there in cyberland who take advantage of good hearted people.
